My Favorite Hilton Lounge in the World is…

Do you have a favorite hotel lounge? I don’t mean one that’s good, but rather one that takes good and turns it into GREAT. Seems to me, many lounges are fine, or even good, but in each hotel chain there are usually a few standouts.  I previously mentioned my 13 criteria for the perfect hotel lounge.

I’ve already talked about my favorite Sheraton lounge and Hyatt lounge, so what’s my favorite Hilton lounge?  There are a few Hilton lounges that I like, but the Hilton in Budapest is great and my favorite pick from the Hilton’s I’ve stayed at.  In general, I had a fantastic experience at this hotel and highly recommend it. Besides the wonderful location of this hotel, the lounge totally gets it. It has 12 of the 13 criteria!  Even though the concierge was inside the lounge, the lounge was large and had separate areas for its various functions. The concierge desk was off to the front side, the business center had its own area apart from the dining area, and the TV was in a cozy area with couches away from the table.  The food was delicious and I really enjoyed the table service. It was much like being in a restaurant.  The concierges were great fun to talk with about life in Hungary. The concierge taught me how to drink Unicum :))

So that’s my pick for my favorite Hilton lounge. Many good ones, but this one raises the bar!  I’m looking forward to hearing about your favorite Hilton lounge! Have you been to the lounge at the Hilton Budapest? Did it rank as high on your list? Which Hilton lounges rank high for you, and why? Did I miss any of your lounge criteria?  Let me know!

Hilton Bangkok. Snacks and drinks available all day. Afternoon high tea. Evening cocktails/wine/beer and food. Brilliant.

Thanks for your vote, Radster. Afternoon high tea would for sure impress me! I have to get back to Asia, soon. Between your suggestion and the Hyatt suggestions, I see I have a lot of lounge leaping to do there.

Good tips about differentiating a lounge space from the service and rooms. I usually find that one goes with the other, but of course that can’t always be the case. Thanks for your vote, Kalboz.

Good tip, Scott. Thanks. I’ve only transited through IST. When I finally spend some time there, I’ll remember your suggestion!

Your points about the great lounge are valid, but the hotel is kind of badly located, unless you have a meeting at the palace. The Pest side has a lot more to offer, and has at least one Hilton. As to great Hilton lounges, while I haven’t encountered any so far, I’m interested in any listing of them that would indicate places to stay in the future.

Thanks for your thoughts, Christian. I really enjoyed being on the Buda side and the castle location, though for sure the Pest side is where all the action is. I haven’t seen any lists for best Hiltons, but the comments for this post gave me some ideas. I thought the lounge at the Hilton in Prague was good, but still not as good as in Budapest. If you find a list that suggests other Hilton properties not mentioned here, let us know!
