My youngest daughter will be spending a year of university study overseas next year and I plan on using miles to cover the flights for my family of five. We’ll spend a two week vacation visiting her and touring the area. Can’t wait for December 2015!

  2. Liz @ Yes/No Films

I’d love one of the Delta ones, but any of them would be fine :).

In 2015, I’m most looking forward to one of my blog conferences, in CA, and hoping to travel more too.

  3. Laarni

We’re using miles to go on a 2-week vacation in London and Paris. It will be my family’s first time in Europe! :)

    1. Grant

Sounds like a great trip. My first trip to Europe was to London and Paris with my parents and younger brother, we had a great time and I have been back to Europe many times since. Europe in summer is awesome, such long, sunny days :)

Grant- I love your blog. When I read the title to this post in my email feed my brain told me to read “amenity kit’ as ‘amnesty kit’ and I kept trying to figure out what that meant…like did the airline get mad at you for having so many miles but they were willing to forgive you if you bought a first class ticket? Then I read the actual post and saw the pictures of the amenity kits and I realized my stupid mistake. Anyway just thought I would share my silly story. Keep up the good work and happy new year!

    1. Grant

Thank you Joan, interesting story. I guess I would need an amnesty kit if I was fleeing from the US to some foreign country. Not sure they make those kits…

    1. Grant

Sounds like an awesome trip! I really love Amsterdam, I’ve been there a several times. Stay at the Andaz Amsterdam, if you have Hyatt Points. Great hotel in a great area.

  5. DavidNJ

I’d love to retire but living in New Jersey means paying big time to Caesar so off to work I go. In the meantime, I want to burn as many miles & points as possible to take me where I’ve never gone before. The AA of Delta kits would be terrific but any will do.

      1. DavidNJ

Have an 8 night trip to Aruba on points and miles in March (Thanks Club Carlson & Southwest Companion Pass … again)! “Spent 10 nights on the same itinerary over Thanksgiving” Haven’t decided where else yet, but basically I have the option to go anywhere in the world thanks to accumulated miles and points. Thanks to Grant and all the other experienced bloggers, the world is my oyster. Gotta Love miles & points!!!

        1. Grant

Sounds like a great trip. I went to Aruba a few years ago with my family and really enjoyed our time there. Very good snorkeling and scuba diving options. If you get a chance, try to go to Curaçao as well. Similar feel but more activities on and around the island.

  6. Kathie Allen

I’m looking forward to my daughter graduating from high school and her first year of college! I would prefer the AA amenity kit! Thanks!

  7. Kelly s

Been saving up points to take some family to hawaii this year! Normally we go every year on points but this year we are taking the parents in law! They have never been and it is going to be awesome!

  8. Brant

    Hey Grant,

Congratulations on a fun and profitable year in spite of a few set backs. I am really happy you are still enthusiastic about your blog!

In 2015 I am looking forward to sharing the gift of travel with my new SWA companion pass and over 1,000,000 points and miles that I have acquired thanks to creative people like you who tirelessly research and share great ideas with all of your readers.

I am also looking forward to April FTU in Dallas to meet the bloggers and refine my skills to even higher levels.

Thanks again for 2014 and all the fantastic information!!

    1. Grant

You’re welcome Brant. I find acquiring the SWA Companion Pass easy, but finding a companion to be the hard part. I’ll be at FTU DFW in April, I’ll try to find you there :)

  9. whitney

not to be a Debbie downer but I am looking forward to spoiling my two-year-old bulldog rotten and giving him the best year of his short life! he was just diagnosed with lymphoma which comes with an average prognosis of only one year, despite his young age. (hence why i havent finish my mileage run write-up

      1. whitney

for some reason it cut off the second half of my post. it said that unfortunately this probably means I will have to put travel on hold for the year but it will give me time to focus on doing more MS to use towards a kick ass trip in his honor when the time is right.

        1. Grant

Maybe he will go with you on your MS errands. No one will question your MS habits if you have a cute puppy by your side :)

  10. Brian J.

My friend and I are doing Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, the Amalfi Coast, Venice, and Madrid in February. Most of it is funded with points/miles! We can’t wait. Thanks for all the knowledge you’ve shared.

Would love the Delta kit as a first choice but any would do! Thanks for doing this. Happy New Year!

    1. Grant

Sounds like an awesome Euro trip you have planned. Great timing too since the Euro is around $1.20. I love Amsterdam and Paris. I hope Berlin will not be freezing like it was for me last January. Have fun!

  11. Josh

I am excited for my 11 day trip courtesy of Etihad that will take me to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, Cairo, Johannesburg, and Cape Town. I would love the AA or Delta kit!

    1. Grant

That sounds like an awesome trip. I’ve never been to the Middle East or Africa, but I definitely want to go! Did you get in on any mistake fares to those places?

  12. Judy jones

Trying to plan to take three friends to Peru for 10 days from all my MS, it is like herding cats! Would love the United one!

    1. Grant

Haha, it’s tough to plan around other people’s schedules. I hope you find a time that works with everyone’s schedule. Will you be visiting Lima and Cuzco?

  13. Atif

I have a long trip to NZ planned…. Hope to see a lot of the country by driving around in a camper van!

  14. renee

I am most looking forward to a trip I have planned for my family (12 of us) to France. While it will drain over a million miles from my account, I am looking forward to spending time with my entire family and have them experience flying business class most for the first time.

    1. Grant

Wow, that is awesome. Glad you could bring your entire family to France. Did you have to find flights on many different flights?

  15. Quincy

I’m looking forward to two trips this year booked on mistake fares! The most recent one to Abu Dhabi for $178 RT and one to Qatar for $278. Thanks so much for doing the giveaways…. Hopefully I win!

  16. RJ

Going back East (from CA) with my entire family and also to somewhere in the Carribean with my wife – all on miles and Pts for 7 total round trip flights and 11 nights in hotels! I like the Delta Tumi Kits. :)

  17. cynthia l

Hi grant. Happy new year and welcome to the Bay Area. You will love it here… Looking forward to spending more time with family and loved ones and continuing to enjoy all the great food and everything San Francisco has to offer. Life is already good as it is (counting my blessings) but if I do take a trip to Southeast Asia or Europe this year it will be just gravy :). Would love the delta tumi kit if possible or any of the others would do just as well. Welcome again!

    1. Grant

Thank you Cynthia, maybe I will see you at one of my Bay Area meetups. I work near Civic Center. Let me know if you are ever in the area. Have a great weekend!

  18. Christie

I will be using points to go to Paris for a friend’s wedding in August, still contemplating where in Europe to hop to after the wedding!

  19. Michael

I am most looking forward to going to Korea in a couple of weeks to finalize the adoption of our son and bring him home.

  20. Carlo

I’m actually looking forward to coming back home! I’m 6 months into a 1-year round-the-world trip and can’t wait to finish and see my family&friends again!

  21. Stephen Vaughan

A simple “Enter” button would suffice. Or are we to assume this “Got something to say?” box is where we enter?

  22. ruth rehak

Using your tips, and those from a couple of other points/miles bloggers, I have a amassed about 600,000 points /miles. For me, the challenge is figuring out how to use them! I have not yet ever redeemed any miles/points but I swear I will do it in 2015! I am thinking about a trip to Bali for a month or two. Maybe I need to go back and read some of your old posts to figure out how to do it and boost my confidence!

    1. Grant

Good evening Ruth, you have a nice stash of miles and points. Check ITA Matrix for paid flights to your destination then figure out how to use miles on those same flights. It might take a while but it is a good learning experience.

  23. Abhishek D

I’m looking forward to some exciting trips in 2015 with my wife and I prefer the Delta Airlines Business Elite Amenity Kit. Thanks for the opportunity!

  24. Preston S

Most looking forward to an anniversary trip to Hawaii this spring with my wife. From the east coast out to the Big Island.

I’d prefer the Delta kit but beggars can’t be choosers.

  25. flyingcturtle

Looking forward to taking my mother to Rome, London, and Paris. She has never left the US and she only knows we are going to London. So hopefully it will be a huge surprise.

  26. Brenton

Just had baby #1 on Halloween, and I’m looking forward to taking him to Europe in Business class through the new ANA award chart.

    1. Grant

I hope he has a great time in Europe. My parents went to Australia when my mom was pregnant with me, but we never flew in business class.

    1. Grant

Are you guys visiting Germany to pick up a Mercedes Benz or BMW car? If you are, check out the car museums there, they are amazing.

  27. projectx

I’m looking forward to spending a few days with my wife on our first ever trip to NYC! I’ve dabbled in the points hobby but started taking it seriously this year. It will be our first trip funded solely by points and cashback so we are extra excited. Plus, grandparents are watching the kiddos while we go!

I’m interested in either the United or American kits. Mostly because I hate Delta! :)

    1. Grant

Sounds like a great trip without the kids. I’m sure they will have fun with their grandparents. I haven’t been to NYC since like 1998, I need to go back soon.

  28. Matthew R

I’m looking forward to using my miles for a good cause this fall when myself and some coworkers head to Haiti for a week of service.

    1. Grant

Sounds like a great use of miles. I’m glad you are able to give back to the Haitian community, I’m sure they really appreciate your help.

    1. Grant

Sounds like a great honeymoon, that will be tough to beat for the anniversary trips. Have a great time in the Seychelles.

  29. Shane

I’m looking forward to going on a Disney cruise in 3 weeks! Then looking forward to converting points and miles into a hawaii trip in November, although I still need to convince the significant other that we need another vacation!

I’d prefer either the Delta or AA amenity kit.

    1. Grant

Have fun on a Disney cruise, I have heard many good things about Disney cruises. You wouldn’t have to convince me that we need another trip to Hawaii :)

    1. Grant

That’s amazing, are you taking a boat from the southern tip of Argentina? I’m sure you will have a great time in Antarctica.

  30. TTN

It’s going to be a busy year for us. Our summer plan is still in the “thinking” stage, but we are thinking of a California road trip from Orange County to San Francisco area (to visit Grant lol). Delta kit (haven’t been on Delta for a long time)

    1. Grant

I would recommend driving up PCH and Highway 1 if you want a scenic drive. You might also want to consider Amtrak along the Coast Starlight train.

i will be returning to india, having left there in dec for holidays at home, in march. why will i return? to continue my volunteer teaching position in the rural state of jharkhand. i have learned that not making money, but making solid relationships around the world, is the way for me to live.

    1. Grant

That sounds like a very rewarding occupation, I’m sure the students love you as a teacher. Have a great flight back to India.

  32. Kim

Grant-I enjoy your blog and find things here first (or no where else) written in a clear and concise way. I am looking forward to TravelCon OC and planning another trip to the Big Island-need to use the Hilton Grand Vacation Club package I purchased last July. I would love the Delta Tumi kit, but would enjoy any of them. Thanks?

    1. Grant

I will see you at TravelCon in a few weeks. I’m supposedly speaking about PayPal, so it should be interesting. Hopefully you get to use your HGVC package soon.
