World of Hyatt Announces Oasis, Blurring Lines Between Home & Hotel ($100 Off Code Expires October 31)

World of Hyatt sure is branching out lately. First they created the Try the World series of gift boxes. That’s a work in progress! Now they are luring us away from Airbnb / VRBO / Homeaway type stays with a new program called Oasis. According to this announcement, you’d be staying in a home yet receiving the amenities of a hotel-like stay. So far they’re rolling Oasis out in 22 cities around the world. We’ll also be able to earn Hyatt points and redeem them for stays.

If you book a stay by October 31 and use coupon code UnboundxHyatt,  you’ll save $100. Are you up for trying something like this or will you pass on it? Take a look at some of the properties and cities and let me know!

I don’t understand the branding at all. Unbound Collection is cool, but it’s a stretch throwing this concept in there as well. And just like the competitors, they have minimum stays and often exorbitant fees. So the $100 discount will essentially knock off *part* of a cleaning fee. I’m not the right customer for this.

I’m not the right customer either, Carl. It seems like Hyatt is throwing a bunch of ideas out there and seeing what sticks. It will be interesting to see how many points per night they’ll require. I’m curious if we’ll have any reports from people who try these properties. Some of the locations are great ones but then again, seems like they are slicing up the pie too many ways. Have a great weekend!

Interesting, Kalboz, thanks for sharing! My Hyatt people at the Aventine in La Jolla keep telling me to try the Hyatt in Huntington Beach, but your suggestion looks interesting too. I gotta get out of San Diego County more often :)

To be honest with you, I prefer the Hyatt Regency Orange County over the HRHB because of the treatment, upgrades and the breakfast. Sure the HB Hyatt has a prime location at Beach & PCH right across the street from the Pacific, the grounds are lovely, and they have 3 pools including the Slyder Pool where our kids have had great time, their are indifferent to Hyatt elites and there is nothing special about the recognition – I guess that have seen their share of entitled guests! The HR Newport Beach is also nice and so is the the Aviara and the Manchester in your neck of the woods :)

The breakfast at the HROC, IMO, is the best in the Hyatt system nationwide, hands down!

I’ve only heard (very) good things about the HROC. I stayed at the HRHB last year and found it to be quite acceptable. Used a DSU and really appreciated having all that extra space, especially a full second bath. But the thing is, it’s hard to feel properly resort-y when you’re right on PCH. Yes, the ocean is right there. But so are the motorcycles. LOTS of them. And little break from vehicle traffic even late at night. So in the relaxation category, I find it a bit lacking. Cool to check out once but I likely won’t be rushing back.

Looks like the HROC has jumped to the top of the list! When a property calls itself a resort, as the HRHB does, it sets up a certain expectation. As you said, trying makes sense. Returning, not so much! Have a great week, Carl!

Good info on the HRHB, Kalboz. Hope readers keep this in mind when choosing Hyatt properties in Southern CA. I took a look at the HROC and that location near Disneyland looks great, too. I checked various nights and the prices really fluctuate. Can get a cash stay for well under $150. HROC breakfast best in the nation…..that’s saying a lot. May have to stay a night just to check that out :) As for the Manchester, too big and touristy for me. They are the beneficiaries of many of the well trained staff from my Aventine, though, because they pay better wages. I really should give the Aviara a try, I agree. Have a great week and thanks for adding to the conversation!

Also HRHB charges $28.25 resort fee per room per night I have no clue as to why! About 25 nights here since 2010. Parking fee with unlimited in/out privileges is $37 per night. Both waived on award stays (but not cash & point stays). We have been upgraded to Governor’s Suite, Executive Suite with side oceanview, and Oceanview Executive Suite. No resort fees at the HROC but parking maximum charges are $28 for self parking and $36 for valet. We have had at least 100 nights at this property since 2009, mostly in the last 3 years. Here, we have scored Presidential Suite, Chairman’s Suite, Conference Suite, Family VIP Suite (numerous times), Kids’ Suite (2 rooms, one with bunk beds). Our upgrade rate here is about 99%. I hope this helps! :)

These data points are awesome, Kalboz. You’re a real statistical man! The parking and resort fees can really add up. Thanks for adding so much to this post and to SoCal Hyatt elite wanna-bes toolboxes!
