Citi Rewards+: 2,500 Bonus ThankYou Points Posted to TYP Account, Not Credit Card Statement

Good afternoon everyone.  Last month, I received a targeted spend offer on my Citi Rewards+ Credit Card where I could earn 10x Citi ThankYou Points up to 2,500 TYPs for online purchases.  Doctor of Credit wrote about the offer.  Spending $250+ online in a month seemed pretty easy and 2,500 TYPs is worth $31.25 toward TYP travel redemptions, so I activated the offer, made the online purchases, and waited for the TYPs to post.  My credit card statement closed yesterday, so I downloaded the statement and looked at the TYP earning section, but I didn’t see the 2,500 TYPs.  I did some digging and found that the 2,500 TYPs posted directly to my TYP account instead.  I will share my findings below.

Here are the complete terms and conditions of the offer:

¹This offer starts upon enrollment and will end on 04/30/2020. Earnings associated with this program will equal 9 bonus ThankYou® Point(s) per $1 spent on eligible purchases and may overlap with other special offers in which you are currently enrolled. Bonus points awarded with this offer are subject to a maximum of 2,500 additional points.
This offer excludes gas station and supermarket purchases.

To qualify for this offer, the merchant must tag your purchase as having been made online.

Please also note – purchases made through mobile/wireless technology may not earn additional rewards depending on how the technology is set up to process the purchase. We reserve the exclusive right to determine which purchases qualify for additional rewards. All purchases must be made during the promotional period.

Balance transfers, cash advances, checks that access your Card Account, items returned for credit, unauthorized charges, interest and account fees, traveler’s checks, foreign currency purchases, money orders, wire transfers (and similar cash-like transactions), lottery tickets, gaming chips (and similar betting transactions), Citi Flex Loans and the creation of Citi Flex Pays, are not purchases.

ThankYou Points earned will be posted to the primary cardmember’s account in 1-2 billing cycles.

In order to qualify for this offer, the account must be open and current at all times. If your account is closed for any reason, including if you convert to another card product, you may no longer be eligible for this offer.

You may receive more than one communication regarding this bonus offer with a reply-by-date mentioned within; however, if you have already enrolled in this offer, no further action is required. This promotional offer is non-transferable and applies to the account ending in the last 4 digits referenced in this offer.

My credit card statement showed that I only earned 295 TYPs, not 2,500 TYPs.

I then logged into my TYP account and went to the TYP Points Summary section.  I filtered the results to only show TYPs earned in May 2020.  Under the View By Account, I see 2,295 bonus TYPs and a total of 2,590 TYPs earned on my Citi Rewards+ Credit Card this month.  If you spent at least $250+, your points balance will differ due to rounding and the 10% roundup bonus.

For a different view, under the View By List, it shows the same breakdown of TYPs.  Since I spent $255, I earned 255 bonus points.  Citi then multiplied that by 9 to get 2,295 bonus TYPs.

If you have any questions about the Citi Rewards+ Credit Card or with this spend offer, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day everyone!

I had the same promo and was wondering why I didn’t see the bonus points on my statement. Thanks for the update
