Test Driving MaxRewards App: Load Same AMEX Offer to Multiple AMEX Cards

Good evening everyone.  A few weeks ago, a friend of mine told me about the MaxRewards app.  The app has a ton of cool features, but the feature that was the most interesting to me was the ability to load the same AMEX Offer onto multiple AMEX credit and charge cards.  Back in the day, you could open each AMEX card in its own tab, scroll down to the AMEX Offers section and add the same AMEX Offer to each and every AMEX card that had the offer.  Unfortunately, AMEX killed that trick and now you can only load the AMEX Offer to 1 AMEX card, no matter how many AMEX cards you have that display the offer.  Once the offer was loaded to the first card, it could not be loaded to any more cards.

This is where MaxRewards comes in.  They have the magical ability to load the same AMEX Offer onto all of your AMEX cards that display the offer.  For example, if you have 6 AMEX cards that all display the same Office Depot AMEX Offer, MaxRewards is able to add the offer to all 6 AMEX cards.  Here is how it works.

As I mentioned, I have the same Office Depot AMEX Offer available on 6 AMEX cards.

I then went to the MaxRewards app and allowed the app to sync the latest AMEX Offers for me.  Depending on the number of AMEX cards and the number of AMEX Offers per card, the process can take about a minute.  After the sync was finished, I went to the Offers tab (bottom right corner) and then searched for Office Depot.  I clicked on the offer and saw that MaxRewards was able to add the Office Depot AMEX Offer to 7 cards (1 card is Laura’s).  It also does a great job displaying the start and end dates of the offer, a brief description of the offer, and which cards have the offer.

To double check, I signed back into my AMEX account and checked all 6 AMEX cards.  The Office Depot AMEX Offer was successfully added to all 6 AMEX Cards.

I have played around with MaxRewards for a few weeks and am still learning new things about the app.  As far as I can tell, MaxRewards can sync AMEX Offers, Chase Offers, Citi Merchant Offers, and BankAmeriDeals, among many other features like tracking spend toward a sign up bonus, telling you which credit card works best at each merchant, and reminding you to use your AMEX monthly credits.  If you are interested in MaxRewards, here is my referral link or use code travelwithgrant when you sign up.  With the referral link / code, you will get a credit for 1 month discount on their Gold Membership (paid service that unlocks all the benefits, but you can check it out free with their 7 day free trial).  The link works best on your phone since MaxRewards is app-only.

If you have any questions about MaxRewards, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day everyone!

That is a bummer, I didn’t really notice the Chase sync wasn’t working. I am OCD and like to manually add the Chase offers on all my cards so I can visually see which offers are available. Hopefully MaxRewards fix the issue soon.

Hi Wayne, call off the AMEX rats! I’m too small for them to bother with me. I will report back if the AMEX rats bite me and clawback my statement credit.

I had the impression that, although you could load it onto multiple cards, once you used it on one card, it would no longer work on the rest. that’s been my experience

Hi Martin, I haven’t had a chance to test using the same AMEX Offer on multiple cards yet, so I’m not sure if it works or not. I’ll report back when I have the chance to test this out.

Using third party apps to violate the terms of a credit card – clawbacks may be the least of your worries. I see closed accounts in your future . . .

I use CardPointers which has the same feature, but I agree with David here. I use it to add to all cards, but am very careful to only redeem on one of them. It still makes it easier to pick and choose later instead of having to flip through each card to see where it is and isn’t offered and then add it only to the most beneficial card.

Hi Darin, that is a good strategy too. Most likely, there will be 1 optimal card for each AMEX Offer, so it should be easy to use just that card to trigger the offer.

I used MaxRewards back in March of 2022. It worked well at first, but then started to suffer issues. I did the yearly subscription, but they ended up giving me a prorated refund given all the issues. I’m now using CardPointers and it works perfect! It doesn’t suffer the same issues as MaxRewards as it uses my own personal laptop to load the offers when I log in to the bank. The owner of CP is a very nice guy and listens to customer feedback. I know have their lifetime subscription.

Hi Matthew, I haven’t tried CardPointers yet, but I heard they are pretty similar. I also heard that MaxRewards had several bugs in the past, but I believe most of those bugs are fixed now. I will have to check out CardPointers so I can see how the service differs from MaxRewards. Thank you.

Wow, the things bloggers will post just to get referral commission. Do NOT do this unless you’re comfortable taking the chance of AmEx clawing back the $ or, worse, shutting down ALL your accounts. Worth it for a $10 credit? NOPE!

Hi Domino, thank you for your perspective. I hadn’t considered all the possible negative consequences of using this feature of MaxRewards. Have a great day.

Interesting. I had written off this app for some reason I can’t remember but I hadn’t tried to load multiple offers. Maybe using it for non-Amex could be the safe “RAT” bet though.

Hi Dan, yes, you should be safe using the linked offers for Chase Offers and Citi Merchant Deals since the same offer can be loaded to multiple Chase and Citi credit cards.

Your site is nearly impossible to use… so many ads clogging up the page, etc. it looks like a webpage that my neighbor’s 12 year old made for his computer class project.

Hi LaShante, thank you for the feedback. I’m sorry you are experiencing an issue with the ads. Are you reading it on a phone or on a computer? I can take a look into the issue. Thank you.

MaxRewards isn’t the only app that supports the multiple add. Now that it has been published publicly it will likely get killed (and yes, RAT might get involved.)
