BREAKING NEWS! *GASP* Vanilla Reload now has a Captcha Text Box

Ok everyone, calm down.  i may have over-reacted just a bit.  I recently loaded 2 VRCs to my Bluebird account and noticed a new captcha text box during the reload process.  No big deal, just enter the captcha and your reload will go through right away.  Also, on the confirmation screen, you will see more details about your VRC reload, such as the VRC PIN from the back of the card.

That is all the changes I noticed.  If you want to see the full (updated) reload process, please click here.  If you have any questions, please let me know.  Have a great weekend!

What’s on my Mind? Bluebird and Walmart, Credit Card Sign Up / Spending Bonuses, Mercedes Benz Key Rings, Panda Express, Panera Bread, AMEX Statement Credits, BA Avios, and the Grand Canyon

What’s on my Mind? Bluebird and Walmart, Credit Card Sign Up / Spending Bonuses, Mercedes Benz Key Rings, Panda Express, Panera Bread, AMEX Statement Credits, BA Avios, and the Grand Canyon

Instead of posting several small blog posts, I decided to post everything here in 1 giant post.

1 – Which gift cards work at Walmart to reload a Bluebird Card?

Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post and shared their recent successes and failures of loading gift cards to Bluebird.  I compiled the results below. From looking at the list, it looks like every Visa gift card that you guys tried worked, so I am going to switch from buying $200 MasterCard gift cards issued by US Bank to buying $200 Visa gift cards issued by Metabank (Gift Card Mall).

WM BB Successes

I went to Walmart today (January 6) and loaded 2 $200 and a $500 Visa gift card successfully.

Free Money Program Updates: Bluebird Reloads, Great Bridge Group, Plink Points, and Orbitz Rewards (& Free Checked Bags)

Tis the season for giving and all through the house internet browser, not a penny was wasted, not even a mouse (what rhymes with browser? schnauzer?).  All rhyming aside, these 4 free money opportunities are out there for you.  I’m sure you got your fix of Small Business Saturday $10 statement credits, $25 Amazon statement credits, and whatever else American Express offers are out there.  Here are some of the lesser known options:

1 – Earn up to 1.5% cash back on all Bluebird online reloads by using a PayPal Debit Card (not a PayPal Prepaid MasterCard).  In November, I earned $17.22 in cash back ($1,148 x 1.5% cash back = $17.22) – read here

2 – Earn cash back from Great Bridge Group for providing “shopping data” to their marketing agency.  They pay 1/10th of 1%, so you earn 1 penny per $10 you charge… on everything.  You are going to spend money on your credit and debit cards, why not earn a little bit extra?  I get more cash back spending money than my brother gets saving his money in his Wells Fargo savings account.  So far I have earned $60.08.  How much have you earned? – read here

PSA: Chase Ink Card Annual Spending Limit

A few readers have asked me some good questions, so I thought I would answer them for everyone.  Since I am sure most of you have at least one Chase Ink Business Credit Card, you are probably aware of the $50,000 annual spending limit for 5x categories (office supply stores and on cellular phone, landline, internet and cable services).

The terms of the card state that your spending limits apply annually and Chase defined annual as:

“Annually” means the year beginning with your enrollment date through the first statement after the anniversary of your enrollment date, and each twelve billing cycles thereafter.) There is no maximum number of points that can be earned on net purchases earning 1 base point, or the additional 1 point on chase.com/ultimaterewards bookings.”

So to clarify, you have 12 months (12 billing periods) before your annual spending limit is reset.  $50,000 / 12 months = $4,167 per month at 5x categories and 2x categories.  If you have a Chase Ink Cash or Ink Classic, $25,000 / 12 months = $2,083 per month at 5x categories and 2x categories.
