#WeekendFillerPost
Good morning everyone, happy Sunday! I hope your weekend is going well. I just returned from my JetBlue mileage run from San Francisco (SFO) to Las Vegas (LAS) on Saturday. The flight was only 414 miles, but the day was spent talking miles, points, travel and much more (not to mention eating/drinking our way through several lounges and enjoying inflight snacks).
If you are out of the loop, I was completing my JetBlue points match requirement of taking 1 round trip JetBlue flight before August 31.
After I posted my JetBlue mileage run plan/itinerary, a few travel hackers in San Francisco agreed to join me. We met at Bart and caught the same train heading to SFO. Our first lounge of the day was the SFO Centurion Lounge. For whatever reason, photos of food from the Centurion Lounges never look very good. Trust me, the food tastes much better than it looks. Maybe the problem lies with the person taking the pictures of the food… For the record, I haven’t found a dessert item at the Centurion Lounges that I did not like.
After that, we changed terminals and visited the Air France / KLM lounge (thanks to the Priority Pass app for storing my membership card). Don’t be fooled like I was, there is way more food behind this mini snack bar, just turn the corner and you will see.
Our JetBlue flight from SFO-LAS was delayed by a few minutes, but we were not in any hurry to get there, since the weather was a toasty 106 degree in Las vegas.
Before the flight began boarding, we talked to the gate agent and asked if the 3 of us could all sit together. 2 of us are JetBlue Mosaic members (thanks to the JetBlue status match!) and the other was just a normal/regular JetBlue member. She was very helpful and got us all in the exit row, which has “Even More Space”. The inflight TVs were very nice and offered 30-40 free channels to choose from, but we decided to talk miles/points during the whole flight.
I watched the inflight moving map and found it funny that we were 5 feet off the ground and moving 9 miles per hour as we taxied to the runway.
On board, we were given a few different snack options (free for all passengers). I heard good things about the Terra blue potato chips and they tasted just as good as regular Lay’s potato chips. As JetBlue Mosaic members, we each got a free alcoholic drink, so I tried the Harpoon UFO White Beer. That was an interesting beer name that I have never seen before.
After landing, we made our way to the LAS Centurion Lounge and loaded up on food. I personally think the LAS Centurion Lounge had much better food than the SFO Centurion Lounge. Maybe I go to the SFO Centurion Lounge too often, so the food no longer amazes me, but I genuinely think the LAS Centurion Lounge has better food.
Here is another photo of Centurion Lounge food. Blame the photographer for the unappetizing photo.
Toward the end of our stay at the LAS Centurion Lounge, we got a group photo. Talking miles and points is a sure fire way to make a 4 hour layover go by very quickly.
We headed back to our gate and boarded the flight. I was the first Mosaic member on board, woo hoo!
For my return flight, I went with the Terra blue potato chips again and got the Angry Orchard Hard Cider. I was so full from eating all day, that I took the potato chips home. The cider was very good, as usual.
Last but not least, I got a great shot of the sunset bouncing off the clouds as we flew back to SFO.
It was a great trip, full of lots of eating, drinking, talking, laughing, and learning. I hope everyone who is going on a JetBlue mileage run has as much fun as we did. Safe travels and have a great weekend everyone!
P.S. I will be at the Fremont In-N-Out today from 12-2pm doing my Fremont Meetup. If you are in the area, check out this post and come see me there.
How to get free alcoholic drink as a Mosaic member? How much was the roundtrip flight?
Hi John, just order an alcoholic drink when you’re a mosaic member and they never charge you for it. The round trip flight was around $145.
