Good morning everyone. I received the below email from Qantas this morning telling me to transfer my Citi Thank You Points (TYPs) to my Qantas frequent flyer account. If you transfer Citi TYPs between now and June 30, 2016, you will get the following bonus Qantas miles (reminder, transfers must be in increments of 1,000 Citi TYPs):
- 15% bonus for transferring 1,000 – 99,000 Citi TYPs
- 20% bonus for transferring 100,000 – 499,000 Citi TYPs
- 25% bonus for transferring 500,000 – 999,000 Citi TYPs
- 30% bonus for transferring 1,000,000 Citi TYPs or more
I’m not sure there are many people sitting on 1,000,000+ Citi TYPs, but Qantas definitely wants to find them. As for me, I have never transferred any Citi TYPs to Qantas.
Here are the complete terms and conditions of the transfer bonus. You must complete the transfer by 11:59pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (6:59am PT or 9:59am ET) on June 30. Please allow up to 30 days for the bonus Qantas miles to post your Qantas account. You can transfer up to 500,000 Citi TYPs per account per 24 hours.
This Qantas bonus offer does not show up anywhere on the Citi Thank You website.
I personally have no plans to transfer Citi TYPs to Qantas, but if you are, check out Lucky’s post: Qantas Added As Citi ThankYou Points Transfer Partner — Should You Care? If you have any questions, please leave a comment below. Have a great day everyone!
Do you know of any award sweets spots in Qantas award chart? UPTO word always kills the deal.
I literally spent 5 mins researching Qantas’s award chart so I have no idea what their sweet spot awards are.

Here is my thoughts on why I am considering this: I really want to fly Qantas, in F, from Sydney to fly the product and to enjoy the worldclass F lounge. It is crazy expensive on Q, but that option is nearly impossible to book on partners, due to availability. So, after nearly a year of trying to find a seat using aa miles, I’m about to bite the bullet and use Qantas miles for one leg of the trip. So, this is actually a good deal for me, and I’m currently picking my flight so I don’t transfer more than needed (since I’m sure I’ll never use those q points again). Just my 2 cents. (Oh, and just FYI, the SYD to DFW flights I’m eying will be 168,000 plus fuel surcharges!) But, I don’t have a lot of time for travel, so I’d rather go big and really do what I want than go some other way that is not as exciting.
If you really want to fly SYD-DFW on Qantas, that seems like the best plan. The Flight as 15.5 hours, so I am sure you will enjoy the trip :)
