Good morning everyone, greetings from rainy San Francisco. Yesterday, I received a postcard in the mail for a new service called Amazon Restaurants. I almost threw the postcard away, but then I looked more closely at it and saw that it said $10 off your first order using promo code DINELOCAL10. I decided to check it out and place a dummy booking to see what the ordering process was like. To see if your home or work zipcode is in an Amazon Restaurant city, click here and type in your zipcode. Apparently this service is only available to Amazon Prime members, so if you are not a Amazon Prime member, you can sign up for a 30 day free trial.
Hopefully your home or work zipcode qualifies as an Amazon Restaurant city. Go through the online ordering process and enter your promo code on the payment page.
Despite the lackluster reviews, I really enjoy going to a local Thai restaurant called Modern Thai.
On Amazon Restaurants, you can view their entire menu, select how spicy you want your meal, which meat option you want, and even leave a note for each item. You order must be at least $20 before tax and tip before you are able to check out.
On the checkout page, select your credit card for payment. I don’t know if Amazon Restaurants codes as a regular Amazon.com transaction, in which case I should use my Discover It Credit Card to earn 5% cash back, or if it will code as a restaurant purchase, which means I should use my US Bank Cash+ Credit Card to earn 2-5% cash back. Does anyone have any data points? Make sure to enter the promo code DINELOCAL10 below the payment method. If you want, you can adjust the tip up or down ($5 is the default amount). If everything looks correct, place your order and your order should be delivered to your address within 1 hour.
I haven’t ordered from Amazon Restaurants yet, but the next time I am too lazy to make dinner or go out to dinner, I will definitely check out Amazon Restaurants. Have you tried it out? I was at a friend’s place yesterday (in ATL), and she for the promo card mailer. I did not (yet). I would be most interested in being able to pay with AMZN credits as I always lots of those. That would be a game-changer, much like paying for UberEATS with CapOne Venture and making the meal cost disappear. :)
Unfortunately, I don’t think using Amazon gift cards is currently supported on Amazon Restaurants :(
