Good morning everyone. I am taking a page out of Miles Per Day’s book and sharing my success with ticket reselling. Long story short, I purchased 2 tickets to the WW Presents Oprah’s 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus Live on Tour from Ticketmaster during an American Express presale. Due to a scheduling conflict, I couldn’t use the tickets, so I decided to sell them back on Ticketmaster. By sheer dumb luck, I ended up making $476.58 after the tickets sold. Here’s what happened…
I purchased 2 tickets in section 213 at the new Chase Center in San Francisco. Section 213 is the upper level that looks straight onto the stage. I got in early with an American Express presale and paid a total of $293 for 2 tickets on September 13.
Several other tickets were listed for sale, but none in my section. The tickets in Section 212, Row 8 were probably the most comparable tickets. Since the event was a few months out (February 22, 2020), I priced the tickets at $449 each and expected them to sit for a while.
Surprisingly, a few days later, the tickets sold and my net proceeds after Ticketmaster fees came to $769.58, which represents a $476.58 profit.
I figured Oprah tickets were hot tickets and just got lucky on this resale. I am not planning on reselling any other event tickets in the near future, I will leave that to Vinh and the other professionals. Like they say, I would rather be lucky than good. If you have the opportunity to purchase Oprah tickets at a good price, it could be a good money maker. If you have any questions about reselling tickets on Ticketmaster, please leave a comment below. Have a great day everyone!
I wouldn’t be surprised if oprah buys her own tickets to create a buzz and generate scarcity.
“It’s so hard to find oprah tickets”
Haha, that is entirely possible.
unbelievable that people will buy tickets to hear Oprah lecture others on income inequality (She’s a multi-billionaire), weight loss (ever see a weight watcher commercial that wasn’t a head shot only?) , marriage advice (not married), parental advice (no kids) and who to vote for? Congrats to Oprah.
That’s a very interesting perspective. I had never thought about those things before.
Congratulations Grant, Oprah has nine shows in this upcoming tour and you happened to pick the ONLY one that has sold out so far, for the other eight shows TicketMaster still has Standard Price tickets available at face value (plus their normal massive add-on fees).
Oh wow, I guess the San Francisco Bay Area has a lot of Oprah fans. Like I said, better to be lucky than good sometimes :)
