Good afternoon everyone, I hope you had a great weekend. 2 months ago, I applied for the American Express Gold Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card. At the time, the sign up bonus was for 60,000 Delta SkyMiles after spending $3,000 in 3 months. In the first month, I spent $1,580 and in the second month, I spent $1,425, for a total of $3,005. I expected to get the sign up bonus after the second credit card statement closed, but to my surprise, the sign up bonus was not shown on the credit card statement. I did some digging and found out that the sign up bonus did post to my Delta account, but it was not shown on my credit card statement. I thought that was really strange, so I wanted to share that in a blog post. Here is the order of events…
On November 16, my first credit card statement closed and I received 1,580 Delta SkyMiles after spending $1,580 on my credit card.
2 days later, on November 18, I received the 1,580 Delta SkyMiles in my Delta account.
Fast forward a month to December 17, my second credit card statement closed and I received 1,444 Delta SkyMiles after spending $1,425 (I received 19 bonus Delta SkyMiles on a restaurant purchase).
The next day on December 18, I received the 1,444 Delta SkyMiles in my Delta account. As you can see, as of December 18, I did not receive the 60,000 Delta SkyMiles sign up bonus. I started to worry that some of my purchases didn’t count toward the $3,000 minimum spending requirement.
Thankfully, on the very next day on December 19, the 60,000 Delta SkyMiles posted to my Delta account. I have no idea why the Delta SkyMiles posted on a different date or why they were not shown on my second credit card statement – the whole process just seemed a little strange.
Long story short, if you complete your minimum spending requirement and do not see your sign up bonus on your credit card statement, don’t worry. Give it a few days and check your Delta account. Hopefully you will see the Delta SkyMiles there a few days after your statement closed. If you have any questions about receiving the sign up bonus, please leave a comment below. Have a great day everyone.
