Wells Fargo Changes: New Statement Ending Dates, TTY/TDD Numbers Retired & More

Good morning everyone, I hope your Father’s Day Weekend is going well.  A few months ago, I wrote Wells Fargo Discontinues Temporary Debit Cards & ATM Access Code Feature (Effective April 1).  And last year, I wrote Wells Fargo Discontinues Instant Issue Debit Cards Effective November 30.  In today’s post, I have a few more Wells Fargo changes to cover (some old and some new), including TTY/TDD phone numbers being retired, document copy fee, ATM balance inquiry fee / ATM transfer fee, and updated statement and fee period ending dates.

Effective March 5, 2021, 3 dedicated telephone / telecommunication phone numbers (800-877-4833, 800-419-2265, and 800-600-4833) for the deaf (TTY / TDD) are now retired.  This sounds like bad news for customers who rely on those 3 phone numbers to communicate with Wells Fargo.  It says that Wells Fargo does accept relay-assisted calls, but I am not sure if that is a suitable alternative option to the retired TTY / TDD options.

Effective May 28, 2021, Wells Fargo will no longer charge the document copy fee.  I’m not sure what the fee was before, but this is a positive change for members who use this feature.

Effective September 1, 2021, the fee will increase from $2 to $2.50 for using non-Wells Fargo ATM balance inquiry and non-Wells Fargo ATM transfer.  To avoid these fees, use Wells Fargo ATMs, the Wells Fargo app, or log into the Wells Fargo website.

Last but not least, effective October 2021, Wells Fargo is updating the available statement and fee period ending dates (aka when your statement closes).  Regardless of when your statements currently close, the new statement close date will be the 17th business day each month (which does not include weekends and federal holidays).  In October, your statement will close normally and then you will have a second statement that will close on October 26.  There will be no fee assessed for this second statement.  To learn more about service fees, click here.  If I had a choice, I would prefer to have my statements close on the last day of the month so that each statement would only show transactions for a single month, but I do not think that is possible (even though many other banks have that feature).

Do any of these changes make a big impact on your life, please let me know.  If you have questions about any of these Wells Fargo changes, please leave a comment below.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Yes this suck about them changing the statement date to 17th business day because I’m using NACA at the moment to buy a home. And the way NACA looks to see if you have your payment shock, it will look like I went below. Ahh

Hi Amy, I really don’t have any idea why Wells Fargo made this change. The 17th business day for the month is really random. I hope your home purchase goes smoothly :)
