Good morning everyone, I hope your week is going well. I have a strange edge case that I wanted to share, in case anyone else is in this situation. Long story short, I downgraded my American Express Hilton Honors Aspire Credit Card to the no annual fee American Express Hilton Honors Credit Card in May 2022 but my Hilton Diamond Elite Status remained for almost a year. A few weeks after my Hilton elite status dropped to Hilton Silver Elite Status, I went to my American Express Business Platinum Card and navigated to the Hilton Honors Gold Status Enrollment benefit.
I entered my Hilton Honors number and submitted the request. A few weeks later (I forgot to check after submitting the request), I went back to the benefit and saw that it said “Enrollment Rejected.”
I contacted American Express and the rep said that the request failed. They said this usually happens if you enter the wrong Hilton Honors number or if your account has a higher tier elite status (like Hilton Diamond Elite Status). I explained to the rep that I had Hilton Diamond Elite Status until I downgraded to the no annual fee AMEX Hilton Credit Card which caused my status to drop to Hilton Silver Elite Status.
I asked the rep to resubmit the request and we confirmed that the Hilton Honors account number was correct on the request. The rep said it could take a few days or weeks to process and if it didn’t work, I would need to reach out to Hilton Honors to fix the problem. Thankfully, within 24 hours, the benefit said “Enrolled” and my Hilton app showed the Hilton Gold Elite Status.
The next day, I received an email from Hilton that said I was upgraded to Hilton Gold Elite Status.
