Good afternoon everyone. I was reviewing my recent Wells Fargo checking account statement and noticed a few updates in the IMPORTANT ACCOUNT INFORMATION section at the end of my statement. There is good news if you use non-Wells Fargo ATMs for balance inquiries and funds transfers. I never knew you could do these with out-of-network ATMs (I would just use the Wells Fargo app or website to do that), but the $2.50 fee is going away, effective September 1, 2024.
Unfortunately, there is also bad news if you use out-of-network ATMs for cash withdrawals. Effective September 1, 2024, the fee is increasing from $2.50 to $3.00 per transaction, and that doesn’t include the fee that the ATM owner will charge you either.
You can view these changes in the current Consumer Account Fees and Information PDF. Here are the various fees for using non-Wells Fargo ATMs domestically and internationally. There is also a 3% foreign transaction fee for using your Wells Fargo debit card internationally too.
In less exciting news, I also noticed that Wells Fargo eliminated the Check Image Fee for Classic and Premium checking account members that went into effect on June 1, 2024. I didn’t realize that there was a fee for this service before.
I confirmed the Check Image Service is free in the Consumer Account Fees and Information PDF.
None of these changes makes much difference to me, but if you frequently withdraw cash from non-Wells Fargo ATMs, you should be aware of the increasing costs. If you have any questions about any of these changes, please leave a comment below. Have a great day everyone!
