Good afternoon everyone. A few months ago in April 2021, I wrote about My Experience Booking Vacasa Vacation Rentals with Wyndham Rewards Points. The booking process has come a long way since April, so I wanted to provide an update and show how easy and quick it is to book a Vacasa Vacation Rental using your Wyndham Rewards Points. Here are the steps I recommend:
- Start your search here: https://www.vacasa.com/search?maxbeds=1&maxrate=350&place=/usa/ (this will show all properties that have 1 bedroom and cost less than $350 / night)
- Enter the city or state you are interested in
- Enter your check in and check out dates (this will only show properties that are available for the duration of your stay)
- Then look at all the properties that have ratings / reviews, focusing your attention on properties that have the best / most / recent ratings
- Then look at the photos and read the description (some properties charge a resort fee or parking)
- Once you have identified your top 1-3 properties, it is time to book the reservation
For an upcoming trip to Maui, I settled on this Vacasa Vacation Rental: Hale Kai O Kihei 207 – Kihei, HI
For a 5 night stay, the cash price with all taxes and fees would be $2,052.15, or $410.43 per night. The $350 per night rate does not factor in taxes and fees, just the pre-tax nightly rate. Since I have the Barclays Wyndham Rewards Earner Business Credit Card, I get a 10% discount on award stays, including Vacasa Vacation Rentals. So the total price is 15,000 points x 10% discount = 13,500 points x 5 nights = 67,500 points. $2,052.15 / 67,500 points = 3 cents per point value for my Wyndham Rewards Points.
The old process involved emailing Lizzie at the Wyndham Rewards Fulfillment department to book the Vacasa Vacation Rental. I followed my previous email template and emailed Lizzie last night. She responded this morning that I can now make Vacasa Vacation Rental reservations over the phone by calling 1-800-441-1034.
After a 15 minute call, my Vacasa Vacation Rental reservation was confirmed and the 67,500 points were deducted from my Wyndham Rewards account. During the phone call, I had to answer the security questions and provide the 5 digit property number for the Vacasa property. The 5 digit code is in the Vacasa URL and shown below the photos of the property. If you have the Barclays Wyndham Rewards Earner Business Credit Card, make sure you only pay 13,500 points per night, since some reps default to the 15,000 points per night rate. The rep said I would receive 2 emails, an email from Wyndham Rewards and an email from Vacasa. In the Vacasa email, I would need to agree to the rental agreement. The whole phone call was very easy.
A few minutes later, I received a Wyndham Rewards confirmation email showing the details of my Vacasa Vacation Rental reservation.
A few minutes after that, I also received the Vacasa Vacation Rental confirmation email. In the email, I clicked the View Your Trip button.
After signing into my Vacasa account, I clicked on the Rental Agreement link to review and approve the rental agreement.
Read the rental agreement terms, check the box at the bottom of the page, and click the Submit button.
Your rental agreement is approved and now you are ready for your Vacasa vacation.
In July 2021, Laura and I went to Kauai and stayed at 2 different Vacasa properties. You can check out my review of those properties here: My Good & Bad Experience with 2 Vacasa Vacation Rentals in Hawaii (Booked with Wyndham Rewards Points). Hey Grant – I had the idea that Vacasa would charge lots of fees, like cleaning fees. Could you elaborate on whether there were additional costs? Thanks!
Hi Chuck, that is a great question. There are $0 cleaning fees or any other fees. Vacasa doesn’t even ask for a credit card during the booking process. Just show up and enjoy your vacation.
