Good afternoon/evening everyone. I know what you are all thinking… how long does it take for Club Carlson to post the 40,000 bonus anniversary points to my account? That is a great question and I am happy to say you are in the right place to find out. I have both the US Bank Club Carlson Visa Signature Credit Card and the US Bank Club Carlson Business Credit Card, so I can share those 2 data points with you. Up first, let’s look at the US Bank Club Carlson Visa Signature Credit Card. The $75 annual fee posted on November 2, 2016…
…and the “annual renewal bonus” posted on January 5, 2017. That is 64 days or ~2 months after the annual fee posted to my account.
Up next, let’s look at the US Bank Club Carlson Business Credit Card. The $60 annual fee posted on July 6, 2016…
…and the “annual renewal bonus” posted on September 3, 2016. That is 59 days or ~2 months after the annual fee posted to my account. As a reminder, the Club Carlson business credit card has a lower annual fee than the personal credit card ($60 vs. $75). After seeing the annual fee post to my business credit card, I called US Bank and asked for a retention offer and received an offer for 2,500 bonus points to keep the card open. According to Whitney, US Bank might be closing their retention department.
So there you have it. After you pay the annual fee, wait ~2 months (or 2 statements) and you will have 40,000 anniversary points in your Club Carlson account. Also, you can transfer Club Carlson points to another Club Carlson account instantly and for free by calling Club Carlson. I called Club Carlson this morning and transferred all the points from my personal Club Carlson account to my business Club Carlson account so I could book a multi-night reservation from the same account. If you have any questions about Club Carlson points, please let me know. Have a great day everyone!
Hi Grant,
This is not completely on the subject of Club Carlson, but do you know if USB allows products changes? I’d be interested in changing from Cash+ to Flex Perks, and am not concerned about missing out on the sign up bonus, but would like to avoid a credit pull and manual review of my accounts. Thanks!
I have never done a product change with US Bank, so I am not sure what their restrictions are. Assuming you redeemed all your cash back, call US Bank and see if they can help you. I would say that is should be possible since they are both US Bank brands and you are going from a credit card with no annual fee to a credit card with an annual fee, so US Bank should be incentivised to help. You may need to speak with a manager/supervisor if the first rep can’t help. Please let me know what happens with your product change request.

Why you have two Club Carlson accounts? I didn’t know they allow one person has two separate accounts?
One account for personal and one account for business :)
grant, just verifying – took just over 2 months for me as well
Perfect, thank you for the data point :)
You should add that the points won’t post until a statement is generated AFTER the statement where the annual fee hit. Or at least that was the case for me. I had to make a purchase in order for points to post
Hmm, if your annual fee posts in month 1, your payment of the annual fee should post in month 2, and your bonus points should post in month 3.
Same thing as Levy said, you need a transaction for the second statement month after the one the annual fee is billed for that statement to generate and the points to post, otherwise it will not then be till the next time a statement is generated.
Gotcha, thank you for confirming Stefan.
My only transaction every year is the AF, points post 60 days, 2 personal, one business card.
I think that has been my experience too, assuming you pay the annual fee after the statement closes and the annual fee payment posts to the following statement.
I’ve never needed a transaction either.
I have always needed a transaction. Last year I even got into it with the reps because they couldn’t tell me why my points did not post in February like they usually do. In April I finally made a purchase and had my points in May.
I think this is my third renewal bonus year and strangely enough I do not see the bonus points showing up this year on my latest statement. US Bank is just ridiculous.
Looked through my old statements. Always got the points after the two statements as well, after fee hits. The problem for me and others is that sometimes US Bank won’t generate a statement if there are no charges. So that second statements sometimes never came until you went and purchased something the month after you paid the annual fee.
