Curtis DoubleTree Hotel in Downtown Denver: Themed Floors & Great Breakfast

Good afternoon everyone.  A few days ago, I shared my post: Westin Denver Airport: Gate to Hotel Room in 25 Minutes (or Less).  After spending 1 night at the Westin, we went to the Curtis DoubleTree hotel in Downtown Denver.  This hotel was called the Curtis before DoubleTree / Hilton acquired the property, but kept the original name.  The hotel is next to the Performing Arts Center, Opera House, and Concert Hall and 2 blocks from the 16th Street Mall.

The hotel costs 50,000 Hilton Points or $150-$250 / night.  I had 2 free weekend night certificates from when my 2 Citi Hilton Honors Reserve Credit Cards converted into 2 American Express Hilton Ascend Credit Cards, so I booked Thursday night on points, and Friday and Saturday night using the free weekend night certificates.  Since I have the American Express Hilton Aspire Credit Card, I am a Hilton Diamond Elite Member and got 2 free breakfast vouchers for every day during my stay.  There are several Hilton properties around Denver, but I liked this hotel because of the various themed rooms / floors in the hotel.  I like when a hotel has unique character, similar to my Amazing Stay at DoubleTree Arctic Club Hotel in Seattle (Historic Building Built in 1917).  I hope you like my review of the hotel and plan a visit to the Curtis DoubleTree hotel.

Some rooms in the hotel have a Ghostbuster theme or a video game theme, but we opted for a standard (aka boring) room on the 14th floor.  The 14th floor is known as the TV Mania floor, but I felt like some of the other floors (shown below) had much better decorations.  The bed in our room was very comfy and the bedroom was pretty spacious.

There was a desk with a chair, a storage closet with iron, TV, and a mini fridge (not pictured).

During check in, we were given 2 bottles of water, warm chocolate chip cookies (DoubleTree standard), 6 breakfast vouchers, and a letter with activities, weather forecast, and other hotel info.

The bathroom was pretty small, but the shower was nice, and the sink had a lot of counter space.

Just look at that counter space!  Here is the view from our room on the 14th floor.  2 blocks from our hotel was the 16th Street Mall that has lots of restaurants, shops, and tourists.  We walked up and down the mall every day.  If you love Thai food, we highly recommend going to Liang’s Thai Food.  He is a 1 man operation and makes all meals fresh in his food cart.  The line moves slowly, but the portions are large and delicious!

As I mentioned earlier, every floor of the hotel has its own theme.  We stayed on TV Mania floor 14, but Horror floor 13 and Fun & Games floor 6 were my favorite.  The on-property restaurant, The Corner Office, is on the ground floor near the lobby.

When you arrive on the 6th or 13th floor, here is the view after you step out of the elevator.  The wallpaper and design were pretty cool.  Unfortunately, I have no idea what the hotel rooms look like on these floors.

I forgot to take pictures of the breakfast options, but here is a photo of the breakfast menu.  This was from Friday morning.  We went again on Saturday and Sunday morning and they had a much larger brunch menu available.  With the breakfast voucher, you can get 1 non-alcoholic beverage and any entree.  I had the yogurt parfait twice and it was great.  My girlfriend tried a few of the egg dishes and really liked them.  You do not need to leave a tip or pay any surcharge when using the breakfast vouchers.

We had a great time at the hotel and definitely would return.  Maybe we will stay on the 13th floor and check our the Horror floor in more detail.  During our stay, we walked from the hotel to Denver’s Union Station (~15 minute walk) and to Coor’s Field, home of the Colorado Rockies (~20 minute walk).  We had a great weekend in Denver!

If you have any questions about the Curtis DoubleTree, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day everyone!

Nice review but I found it interesting that a hotel with a “TV Mania” floor has rooms with small’ish TV’s. Seems like that would be the first thing they would address on such a themed floor. Downtown Denver is a great place to stay.

I partially agree, but I think “TV Mania” means TV shows and TV stars, at least that is what the photos in the hallway implied.
