(Hat Tip to Kristin for the email)
Good evening everyone, it was a crazy busy weekend, but I hope this week will be less crazy and more writing-oriented. I am only about a million blog posts behind, but I will find time to get to them all…
Anyway, I’m sure everyone and their mother has gotten in on the Smart & Final AMEX Offer (I actually took my mom to Smart & Final over the weekend to do some “grocery shopping”). I shared my experience purchasing 15+ gift cards at Smart & Final here. Just when I thought I was maximizing my savings, I learn about a new gift card offer…
From now through May 12, you can also receive a $10 off coupon for your next Smart & Final shopping trip after you purchase $50 in participating gift cards (Cold Stone Creamery, JCPenney, Jiffy Lube, Macy’s, Yard House, and Michael’s). I was originally concerned that the $10 discount would lower the purchase price to $40 and not trigger the AMEX Offer, but after reading the terms of the coupon, it says the $10 off coupon is only valid on your next visit, therefore, it will not lower your the initial purchase amount.
As a reminder, Mother’s Day is next Sunday (May 10), and there is no better way to show how much you love your mother than to purchase a participating $50 gift card for only $15 ($50 – $25 AMEX statement credit = $25 – $10 off coupon = $15). She will love your thoughtfulness and your wallet will love your frugality.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment below. Have a great evening everyone!
P.S. The Sam’s Club Groupon offer just got extended for another 24 hours. If you did purchase a $45 Sam’s Club membership, have you already gone to Sam’s Club (in-person) to complete your membership and pick up your $20 gift card and fresh merchandise? Any thoughts on the process would be great to hear. Thank you.
American express have the promotion for Sam’s Club get 20 dollars credit after spending 20 dollars, but the problem is Sam’s Club doesn’t accept American express card. What is going on here? I heard many people is having the same problems.
The Sam’s Club offer is only available on samsclub.com, which does accept American Express cards.
Yeah, I figure it out afterward. Hey man, thanks for all the posts. I save lot of money and
got lot of good deals from reading your posts. Keep up the good works man.
You’re welcome Jene, glad you enjoy reading the blog. Keep on saving money!

Grant, did the S&F cashier at the store you went to ask to see ID and the card you were planning to use? I have 4 Amex cards and some authorized users on each card, but I don’t know if I will be able to user the authorized user cards without showing ID. Any tips on how to get around this?
Use your cards first and see if the cashier asks for ID. Most don’t after the first time. Good luck!
