Targeted US Bank FlexPerks Bonus Offer by Mail; Transfer FlexPoints using Credit Card Number

Good morning everyone.  A few days ago, I wrote Targeted US Bank FlexPerks Offer: Spend $500, Earn 2,000 Bonus FlexPoints.  In that post, I showed the targeted offer I received by looking at my US Bank FlexPerks bonus portal online.  Yesterday, I received the same offer by mail (spend $500 between November 1 and December 31 to receive 2,000 bonus FlexPoints).  I have the Visa Signature and American Express version of the US Bank FlexPerks Travel Rewards Credit Card, but both offers are for my Visa Signature card.  I haven’t received any offers for my American Express card, but there is still time to receive an offer by mail or email before the promotion starts on November 1.  If you have more than 1 US Bank FlexPerks Travel Rewards Credit Card, have you received an offer for both cards?  Any data points would be great.  Thank you.

In other news, I needed to book a flight, but I did not have enough FlexPoints (I was short 8,945 FlexPoints to reach the 20,000 FlexPoints redemption level).  Luckily, my good friend was able to transfer some of his FlexPoints to my account.  To do that, he logged into his US Bank online account, went to the FlexPerks Rewards Center, clicked on Manage Points, clicked on Transfer Points, and then filled out the form.  Unfortunately, he received an error message.  He tried again and got the same error message.  I double checked that I copied the FlexPoints number from my statements correctly, but that number still didn’t work.  We then did a 3 way conference call to the US Bank FlexPerks Rewards Center to figure out the problem.  The rep asked for my 16 digit US Bank FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa Signature Credit Card number and entered it into the form.  The transfer was successful.

Lesson learned: If using a FlexPoints account number doesn’t work, try using the full 16 digit credit card number instead.  If that still doesn’t work, call US Bank and have them help.

I logged into my US Bank online account and went to my FlexPerks Rewards Center.  I looked at my Points History and the FlexPoints appeared instantly.  I’m not sure why the transaction was broken up into 2 transfers, but I had the 20,000 FlexPoints I needed.  I then redeemed my FlexPoints for a flight worth almost $400.

US Bank doesn’t have the best IT system, but the ability to transfer points between FlexPerks accounts instantly and for free is a big plus.  Unfortunately, US Bank implemented a new rule that caps transfers into and out of your FlexPekrs account to 20,000 FlexPoints per calendar year.  If you have any questions, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day everyone!
