Citi’s No Kid Hungry Campaign, Table Initiative, and Garden Initiative

Good afternoon everyone, I hope your weekend is going well.  I was checking my Citi online account when I stumbled onto a new program that Citi is participating in.  It is called the No Kid Hungry Campaign and it is a great program to combat childhood hunger.  The program is simple: enroll your Citi credit card(s), then use that Citi credit card at any restaurant, and Citi will donate $2 per transaction to the campaign, up to $500,000.  The program will run from now through July 31.  You will still earn your usual miles, points, or cash back, but you will also be helping children in need.  To enroll your Citi credit card, click here.

I decided to enroll my Citi Forward Credit Card since that is my default restaurant credit card.  You can enroll multiple Citi credit cards as well.

Citi also launched the Citi Table Initiative, a program exclusively for Citi credit card members that offers special dining experiences and savings at particular restaurants.

As of May 31, there are 4 cities participating in the Citi Table Initiative:

Lastly, Citi launched the Citi Gardens Initiative in Miami and Los Angeles to “increase access to fresh, affordable food and nutrition education in neighborhoods facing food insecurity.”  I think it is a great idea, I would love to have a community garden full of fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs.  I hope the program expands to more cities and communities over the coming months.

This has nothing to do with miles and points, but it is good to see that Citi is giving back to local communities and making the world a better place – one garden at a time.  If you have any questions, please leave a comment below.  Have a great weekend everyone.

500k isn’t that much in the scheme of things. They’ll get like millions of customers willing to use their Citi cards just so they can donate $2 feeding hungry kids. Shame, that only means the first 250k people will matter and if you’re dining… well, that pays the $2 tip :(

$500,000 might not be that much, but it is a whole lot more than other banks and large organizations are donating. Every dollar counts and helps a child in need.

I agree, but I realize it looks like my comment looks a bit trollish. My apologies, still a good message to send to their customers though.. I wager if it wasn’t capped, I’d be making good use of the promo the next two months.

No worries Shirley, Citi could always increase the donation cap if it seems like their customers are really involved and excited about helping. Since Citi hasn’t even announced this new campaign, who knows how many card members will hear about it or join the campaign. I would use my Citi card over the next 2 months until I heard that the cap had been reached.
