Warning: Read this entire post before doing anything with Gogo, otherwise you will make the same mistake I did!
Good evening everyone, I hope you had a great Labor Day Weekend. Tonight, let’s talk about complimentary Gogo Wifi passes. I just received an email from Gogo about my 12 new complimentary Gogo Wifi passes that come annually with my US Bank FlexPerks Visa Signature Credit Card. There are many FlexPerks credit cards from US Bank, but this is the only FlexPerks credit card that *currently* comes with this cardmember benefit (I suspect other FlexPerks credit cards will add this feature soon).
To see when your current Gogo Wifi passes expire, sign into your Gogo Wifi account. I don’t fly on Gogo-equipped aircraft very often (I’m a Southwest Airlines flyer), so I only used a few of my Gogo Wifi passes over the last year. All of my current Gogo Wifi passes are set to expire on October 22, 2016.
To make sure you do not miss this email, the subject line is titled, “Important details about your Visa Gogo In-Flight Wi-Fi Benefit” and the email sender is “gogo@e.gogoair.com“. If you did not receive the email, it might be related to when you originally signed up for the Gogo Wifi passes last year. Based on the expiration date of my current Gogo Wifi passes, the email comes around 6 weeks before expiration.
Clicking the link in the email goes to this Gogo landing page. Technically, you can go to this landing page without receiving the above email, but proceed at your own discretion. To proceed, enter your 16 digit US Bank FlexPerks Visa Signature Credit Card number into the boxes and click the Submit button.
If you are eligible for the 12 new Gogo Wifi passes, you will see this screen. Sign into your existing Gogo account to reload your Gogo Wifi passes or create a new Gogo account.
If you have a Gogo Wifi unlimited plan, you will need to suspend your subscription before continuing.
Sign into your existing Gogo Wifi account and click the Sign In button.
Congratulations, your 12 new Gogo Wifi passes are now loaded to your Gogo account. To view your Gogo account, click the link on the page or go here.
In the lower left corner, you will see all your Pre-Purchased Passes. I was under the impression that the 12 new Gogo Wifi passes would have a beginning start date of October 23, 2016 (1 day after my current Gogo Wifi passes are set to expire), but to my surprise and disappointment, the 12 new Gogo Wifi passes are active now and set to expire 1 year from tomorrow (september 7, 2017).
When I scrolled through the Pre-Purchased Passes section, I saw 12 Gogo Wifi passes that are set to expire on September 7, 2017, and 9 Gogo Wifi passes that are set to expire on October 22, 2016.
Since I am not going to use all 9 Gogo Wifi passes that are set to expire on October 22, 2016, I basically activated my 12 new Gogo Wifi passes 6+ weeks earlier than necessary. If I could go back in time, I would wait until the day before flying on a Gogo-equipped aircraft before activating the 12 new Gogo Wifi passes, thereby giving myself the longest amount of time to use all 12 new Gogo Wifi passes. Learn from my mistakes and make a smarter decision regarding your 12 new Gogo Wifi passes!
Question for those heavy Gogo Wifi users. If I have some passes that expire in 2016 and some passes that expire in 2017, will the Gogo system automatically use the passes that expire first? If not, that would be very disappointing as well.
If you have any questions about Gogo Wifi passes, please leave a comment below. Have a great day everyone!
P.S. If you haven’t done so already, please take 10 seconds to vote on my Weekend Trip Report poll question. Thank you :)
I made the same mistake (although didn’t know it was a mistake until I read your post). However, I can tell you that Gogo does use the passes that are expiring first when you choose to use one on a flight.
Bummer, my post did not come out soon enough. Thanks for the Gogo datapoint though :)
Why don’t you call and ask if they can move the date forward?
Hmm, I do have a friend at Gogo I can email for help. Good idea :)
When you go to use a pass it will show you the expiration dates of the passes available to be used and allow you to choose which one you want.
Oh perfect, that seems easy enough. Thank you!

Is there a deadline by which you must activate the passes after receivng the email?
(I know about ” In order to be eligible, you must have made at least one purchase (purchase minus credits and returns) in the past 12 months prior to registering for the benefit, and Card is not past due or otherwise inactive.”) Ths for any info & experience
I don’t believe there is a deadline to activate/renew your Gogo passes.

Grant, I’m a gogo wi-fi newbie. Can I create a gogo account via the web at home, or do I have to do it via my inflight device for it to “remember” my gogo acct in flight?
You can sign up for a Gogo account at home on your laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone. Then when you are on a Gogo equipped flight, you can sign into yuor Gogo account on your laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
Sorry, another noob question: can gogo inflight be used for internet or just media/films? Any time restrictions? If I loose my connection inflight, do I need to use another coupon to get back on gogo?
The Gogo inflight WiFi passes are strictly for browsing the web, not for any onboard media (movies/TV shows). If you are disconnected inflight, just reconnect to the Gogo WiFi network and you can continue to use the current Gogo inflight WiFi pass.
