Good morning everyone. As we wrap up Q1, the targeted credit card offers for Q2 are just now arriving. Here are 3 offers that I have received in the last 2 days and I will share my logic with you on whether or not they are worth pursuing. Up first, I have the Chase Hyatt Credit Card with 4,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 between April 1 and June 30. 4,000 Hyatt Points is worth $60-$80 to me, but I am not excited to spend $4,000 to get up to $80 in return (2% bonus). I could get 4,000 Hyatt Points by generating 4,000 Chase Ultimate Reward Points on my Chase Ink Plus. That would only require $800 of 5x spending and I can do that in 1 day with gift card purchases from PayPal Digital Gifts on eBay. I am going to pass on this offer.

Up next, I have the Chase IHG Rewards Credit Card with 3,000 bonus points after spending $750 for the next 5 months ($3,750 in total spend) between April 1 and August 31. 3,000 IHG Reward Points is worth $15-$20, but I am not excited about tracking my spending for the next 5 months to get up to $20 in return (0.53% return). Instant pass!

Lastly, I have the Barclay Lufthansa Miles & More Credit Card with 2,500 bonus miles after spending $1,250 at grocery stores, home improvement stores and restaurants between April 1 and June 30. 2,500 Lufthansa miles is worth ~$50, but I actually spent all my Lufthansa miles from my credit card sign up bonus, so having ~3,000 total Lufthansa miles in my account won’t get me anywhere, so I am going to pass on the offer, even though the 4% return is not bad.

It looks like I am 0 for 3 on targeted credit card offers right now, but I expect more offers to arrive in the next few days. I will keep you posted on any other offers I receive. Does PayPal Digital Gifts on eBay sell only merchant GC or VGC?
Just merchant gift cards, but most of the time they are discounted 10-20% off face value.
Out of curiosity, did you receive these offers via email or snail mail? I have both the IHG and the Hyatt cards for more then 5 years each and have never received a spending bonus offer from Chase. Do you spend on these cards or hold just for the free night like many of us? I do receive spending bonus offers periodically from US Bank and Barclays, though I am rarely interested in participating, it is a nice option to receive.
All 3 of these offers came via email, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the same offers arrive via mail in the next few days. I mostly hold these cards for the free night unless I am staying at a Hyatt or IHG hotel – then I use these credit cards. I get offers occasionally from Barclays and US Bank too.
