US Bank Cash Plus Q2 Categories: Home Utilities Replaces Bookstores

Good morning everyone, happy Super Bowl Sunday – I hope you have exciting Super Bowl plans today.  I just wanted to give a quick thank you to everyone who showed up for my OC Travel Hackers Meetup yesterday, it was great seeing so many familiar faces and catching up on all things travel hacking.  Yesterday, my US Bank Cash Plus Credit Card statement closed and I noticed a small change on the statement regarding Q2 5% cash back categories.  Effective April 1, 2018, home utilities will replace bookstores.  Home utilities includes electricity, gas, and waste management companies.  I assume water and other home utilities are included, but I am not 100% sure.

If you are a procrastinator like me, there is still time to pick your US Bank Cash Plus Q1 5% bonus categories.  Just click here and sign into the Cash Plus site.  This is also the last quarter where you can earn 5% cash back at bookstores before that category is replaced by home utilities.

According to the Chase Ink Plus Business Credit Card category details, you only earn “5 points total for each $1 of the first $50,000 spent each account anniversary year on combined purchases in the following rewards categories: office supply stores; internet, cable, and phone services (four additional points on top of the 1 point per $1 earned on each purchase),” so it looks like those categories do not overlap with the US Bank Cash Plus Credit Card.  Will you enroll in the home utilities 5% cash back category next quarter?  If you have any questions, please leave a comment below.  Have a great weekend everyone!
