Good afternoon everyone, I hope you had a great weekend. Doctor of Credit covered the recently announced changes to the Bank of America Alaska Airlines Credit Card, but I haven’t seen an update to the Bank of America Alaska Airlines Business Credit Card yet. Luckily, I just got this letter in the mail that covers the upcoming changes to business credit card. “Effective March 2023, the Annual Fee on your company account will increase to $70 on your next company account anniversary date, and the annual fee per card will be $25, assessed on the anniversary of each card.” The “company account” used to be $50, so the combined annual fee will increase from $75 to $95 in a few months.
Effective immediately, card holders will get an earlier boarding position (probably boarding group C, since elite members are boarding groups A + B). You can also get a $100 discount off the $650 Alaska Lounge+ Membership if you pay with this credit card. Lastly, you and any authorized users who pay for Alaska flights with this credit card will get priority boarding and first checked bag free.
Effective March 2023, this card will earn 2x at gas stations, local transit / rideshare, and shipping. The 3x for Alaska flights and 1x everywhere else will not change. Lastly, if you have an “eligible Bank of America small business account,” you will get a 10% reward bonus. See the backside of this letter for more details about all of these changes.
The back side covers priority boarding, the $100 Alaska Lounge+ membership discount, free checked bags, 2x bonus categories, and the relationship bonus. Since I do not have an eligible Bank of America small business account, I would not get the 10% relationship bonus.

P.S. I also have a personal Bank of America Alaska Airlines Credit Card that I opened in June 2022. Bank of America moved my annual fee from June to September. I’m not sure why they didn’t keep the annual fee in June, but maybe there is a law that any changes to the annual fee need at least 6 months notice. Anyone have any other ideas?
I’m interested in knowing which boarding group you receive with this credit card. If it’s group B then it could be worth it. Group C would not be worth it because that’s when they board the back half of the plane. Group D is the front half of the plane. So I could buy a ticket in the last row of the plane and get Group C. Hopefully Alaska will tell us which group their credit card holders receive.
That’s a good point. We will see what boarding group CC holders get in March.
Do you have any info about people who have the Alaska Platinum? I got a letter asking me to upgrade to signature but threw away the paper.
Hmm, I’m not familiar with the Alaska Platinum, but it sounds like the credit card that is one level beneath Visa Signature. I’m not sure what the annual fee is on the Alaska Platinum, but it might be worth upgrading to the Visa Signature version to get the new perks.
I received the same letter, and it does not mention the $6,000 required spending for the companion certificate. I assume I am still grandfathered (as are you) but can’t count on that with BOA. Do you think this is just an oversight?
Hi Nun, I think we are grandfathered in since we had the credit card before the new changes were announced. I haven’t received anything lately saying I need to spend $6,000 to get the Companion Fare.
