Good afternoon everyone, I hope your Monday Tuesday is going well. I am writing this post about JetBlue while in-flight on Virgin America from JFK to SFO. I just received an email from Award Wallet letting me know that my JetBlue TrueBlue points balance increased. Whenever I see a large change in miles/points/cash back, I like to investigate to see what happened. Here are the facts in this instance:
- I booked a JetBlue flight from Long Beach (LGB) to New York City (JFK) on November 7 using 23,100 JetBlue TrueBlue points (flight departed on December 27).
- While booking the flight, I paid 1,000 JetBlue TrueBlue points for the Even More Space upgrade (extra legroom seats near the front of the plane) – I believe you need to be JetBlue Mosaic to get this points option, since normally seat upgrades cost up to $99.
- I was approved for the Barclays JetBlue Plus Credit Card on December 6 and received the credit card in the mail on December 12.
- I took the JetBlue flight from LGB to JFK on December 27 and the rebated points posted on December 28.
Please ignore the 505 JetBlue TrueBlue points in the middle – those are spend on the credit card. It is nice to see that flights booked prior to getting the Barclays JetBlue Plus Credit Card are eligible for the 10% points rebate. It is also icing on the cake that the Even More Space upgrade was eligible for the 10% points rebate. The 10% points rebate is just one reason I wrote, Is the Barclays JetBlue Plus Credit Card a Keeper? (Card Art & Features). So, if you have a few upcoming JetBlue flights that you booked with JetBlue TrueBlue points, you may want to consider applying for the Barclays JetBlue Plus Credit Card before your next JetBlue flight.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment below. Have a great day everyone!
ow did you like JetBlue ?
JetBlue is a great domestic airline :)
Very interesting. I just booked flights for my family of 4 for February (using my Virgin promo points) and was just wondering this. I was considering signing up for the card for the rebate (~5000 extra points), but didn’t want to wait until getting the card to book the tickets since I found a good price.
I can’t guarantee that all previously booked flights will get the rebate (like if you booked 10+ months out) but my single data point is a good sign that it should work.
