Free One Way Car Rentals from Saint Paul, Chicago & Boston to Several Cities in Florida

Good morning everyone, happy Saturday.  If you have any long road trips planned, please pay attention to this post.  TransferCar has just added 350 one way car rentals from Saint Paul, MN, Chicago, IL, and Boston, MA to various parts of Florida (Orlando, Miami, and Cape Coral).  Most of these one way car rentals (actually they are considered vehicle relocations) are free and some even provide gas credit.  I first wrote about TransferCar in February 2015, I documented my experience driving a TransferCar RV from Los Angeles to Denver, and shared the news that TransferCar launches service in Canada.  If you are interested in these car rentals, they are first come first serve.  I highly recommend the TransferCar team, they are very helpful and knowledgeable.

Part 3 of the Saga: Southwest Monkey vs. Southwest Airlines

No one likes to be bullied! I’ll let you decide for yourself whether what Southwest Airlines is now demanding of Southwest Monkey constitutes bullying or not. The saga unfortunately continues (part 1 and part 2) as Southwest Airlines now wants them to remove any evidence that they ever existed.  See their latest blog post.

Hard to put yourself in their position, but what would you do?

Are You A Semper Gumby Traveler?

If you travel enough, there are times when all goes wrong. Heck, even if you travel once in awhile, all going wrong is still possible. And then of course there are varying degrees of all going wrong! No matter what, though, flexibility can save your trip. I think we’d all agree that travel tests your mindset. Have you heard the phrase “Semper Gumby”? It’s a take-off on the Marine Corp slogan “Semper Fi”. Semper Gumby translates to “always flexible” because it relates to the animated character Gumby. I love this phrase and it’s become my travel motto. No matter what trip I’m planning, I spend a lot of time thinking and planning the trip. And yet, many times the trip won’t go exactly as planned. I find that my Semper Gumby mindset definitely increases the likelihood that I’ll still have a positive experience.

Use the Mobile Passport Control App to Breeze through Customs at Select Airports & Cruise Ports

Every so often, I’ll read or hear about some service or product that’s been available for a while and totally skipped my radar. I’d be surprised if I’m the only frequent traveler this happens to! Just last week, I read about the not-so-new Mobile Passport Control (MPC) app that’s available for iOS and Android phones and tablets. Back in the summer 2014, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) launched the first authorized app to expedite a traveler’s entry process into the United States.

MPC allows eligible travelers to submit their passport information and customs declaration form via a smartphone or tablet prior to CBP inspection. This first-of-its-kind app was developed by Airside Mobile and Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) in partnership with CBP. They piloted the program at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and it’s now available at 24 airports and one cruise port.

Update 12/1/17 at 12pm PT: The winner of the free Disney World Hacks ebook is Susan P with this comment:

Our most memorable bad experience was riding the teacups with my daughter, getting nauseous and puking when I got off. Hate things that go in circles.
My most memorable best memory was my daughter weighing her choices on which outfit to spend her money on. She thought it out well.
Hope to make new memories one day again.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the giveaway.  If you did not win, please use GRANT in the promo code field and you’ll get $1 off the ebook price.

Have you been thinking about making all your dreams come true? If you’re a Disney World enthusiast, then I’ve got just what you need! Thank Goofy I found out about a hot off the presses ebook that’s a must read. Have you never been to Disney World and planning a trip, or been there and going again? Even the regular visitor who goes once or twice a year will pick up more Disney World hacks from Dia’s ebook then they can shake a magic wand at.

I just finished reading Dia’s Disney World Hacks ebook and wow, it’s amazing. She is biased both towards value and getting the biggest bang for your buck while at Disney World. She’s honest in admitting that while over-planning can put a damper on your Disney holiday, good planning starts with asking yourself a few questions. The better you know yourself and your family regarding your needs and expectations, the more you’ll enjoy yourself at Disney World. She should know. She’s been there over 20 times!
