OC Meetup and Bay Area Meetup Dates Set – Can you Join us?

Good morning everyone, it’s been a while since my last Miles and Points Meetup so I wanted to get something on the schedule.  I am planning a meetup in Orange County and another meetup in the Bay Area.  I will be in Orange County for Super Bowl weekend, so I was hoping to meetup then (same place, same time).

OC Meetup:

I’ve talked a few people in the Bay Area and know 2 readers/friends who live near Fremont.  Let’s have the first Bay Area Meetup around Fremont.  There is a BART station here and I can pick up a few people and take us to dinner.  Since I don’t know the area well (I’ve only been to Fremont once to visit Target and Walmart), I am leaving it up to you to decide on a place to eat.  Does anyone have any recommendations?

Bay Area / Fremont Meetup:

  • Date: Saturday,February 7
  • Time: 6-8pm
  • Location: TBD, any recommendations?

If you plan on attending or think you might be able to attend, please let me know in the comments below.  I will have a few more posts before the meetup to remind everyone and organize the details.  If you have any questions, please let me know.  Have a great day everyone!

@bmau09: I’m a little out of touch now since I live/work in the Oakland and Dublin areas, but the Thai temple in Fremont is really well known for its authentic Thai food: http://www.yelp.com/biz/buddhanusorn-thai-temple-fremont

For some great milk tea: Gong Cha and Tea Papa

Korean style bar food: K-Pop Café (also has karaoke)

          Dohatsuten Japanese Ramen
          Shanghai Noodle House
          Teo Chow Noodle Shack
Bob Sang Korean BBQ & Tofu
          Little Dipper Shabu Shabu

And yes, Union City and Milpitas also have great Asian food!!

It’ll be awesome if you do Fremont as I live there. There’s a bunch of restaurants including In n Out in the Pacific Common area (nice area). I would recommend Five Guys though. It’s similar to In n Out and a popular one if you want to give a try. I plan to attend if in Fremont :)

Grant, Are you based in the Bay Area now? I’ve just been reading your posts for 6 months or so and it seems like you’ve moved from Southern California to the Bay Area. I love you’re starting from the Bay Area now since I’m in Sacramento.

Hey Grant! I think I and a few friends may try to make it to your Fremont meetup. :) Most of us live in Emeryville area. I work in Dublin. Dublin is my favorite place to MS! :)

Will attend Fremont meetup on 2/7/15. Fremont location is great for me. I live in South Bay near San Jose. I am sure lots of MS fans from Peninsula and South Bay would love to attend this event as well.

There’s an In-N-Out Burger near Hwy 880’s Auto Mall Parkway’s Exit.

Thank you Chris, I look forward to meeting you at the Fremont meetup. I’m leaning towards Five Guys, but I will do a poll to see which restaurant wins.

Fremont BART is usually busy, even on the weekends. What about Dublin Bart? Dublin BARTS are way nicer, cleaner and newer! And there is an IN N OUT within 2 miles of Dublin BART, and lots of other great cheap restaurants. :)

Thank you for the feedback Adam. I tried to replicate your result on my iPhone in Chrome and Safari browsers, but I don’t get the redirect. The ads are not page specific, they are totally random as far as I know. I’m sorry you are experiencing this annoying redirect. I will pass it along to the BA ad team and see if they have any idea how to fix the problem.

No problem Nate. If you are in the Bay Area, you might be in luck. I am planning on having meetups all around the Bay Area. This request is by popular demand.

My typical meetup involves food, and a lot of talking about miles and points. Most of the time, discussion tends to focus on manufactured spending techniques that are local, but some people will be able to share information about various trips. Where are you located?
