Good morning everyone, I have 5 decent AMEX Offers available. Since I am in California, most of these offers are targeted to residents on the West Coast. The offers available below are Five Crowns, Bayside Restaurant, Bistango Restaurant, Janie and Jack, and Stay LA Hotel Offer.
In other news, there is a new Hyatt Place in Mexico, according to this press release: “Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) today announced the opening of Hyatt Place Tijuana in Baja California, Mexico. Hyatt Place Tijuana is the fourth Hyatt Place hotel to open in Mexico, and continues Hyatt’s growth strategy in the country. Hyatt Place Tijuana joins Hyatt Place Cuidad del Carmen, Hyatt Place La Paz and Hyatt Place Los Cabos, which is scheduled to reopen this year, post-Hurricane Odile.”
“Hyatt Place Tijuana is an upscale, select service hotel designed for the multi-tasking traveler. The hotel is situated on Agua Caliente Boulevard, in close proximity to the Zona Rio business and financial district. Additionally, the hotel is 15 minutes from Tijuana International Airport and 10 minutes from the United States Port of Entry (by car, I assume).”
Room rates for this weekend start at $99 or 5,000 Hyatt Points. With the new 20% rebate from Hyatt, each night will only cost you 4,000 Hyatt Points, which gets you nearly 2.5 cents per point.
I checked to see how close the hotel was to the San Diego / San Ysidro Border crossing and it is only a 5km walk, so about 3 miles from the border. If you have an American Express Platinum Credit Card, make sure to bring your Global Entry land border card and speed through security on your way home.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment below. have a great day everyone!

Great catch Tyler, I revised the post and title. Good eye!
Thanks Grant, I am headed to FTU Advanced in San Diego as well, hope to see you around.
Excellent, I’ll be there. Look for the guy wearing the Travel with Grant shirt :)
If anyone is in San Diego (or even the Hyatt Place that Grant just posted above ) — about 15-20 minutes from either, you must eat at the best tacos joint I’ve had in my life (this coming from a guy who’s lived in So Cal for almost his entire life and has eaten at a lot of legit taco places.)
Tacos El Gordo, in Chula Vista. Either the H street or Palm Ave locations. Spicy pork Adobado tacos. Get some Mulas too. Palm Ave has killer Adobado fries. nuff said.
Sounds good. What are adobado fries?
The pork adobado is their most popular item by far (amazing marinated pork sliced from a rotating vertical spit … slightly crispy and super tangy). Adobado tacos and mulas are soooo good.
Only at the Palm Ave location (only about 8-9 mins from the other location) do they serve Adobado fries — this is where they basically take the Adobado and taco ingredients (guacamole sauce, salsa, cilantro, onions) and plop them on top of fries. Campechana fries are a combination of both adobado meat and carne asada.
Here’s the yelp review for the H Street location (the original …. 4.5 stars out of 1625 reviews) :

Here is a picture of some Campechana fries (basically same as adobado fries but w/ carne asada added too):

I was there 2 weeks ago and brought 12 of my colleagues …. everyone raved about them. Many also commented they were the best tacos they’d had in their lives …
I’ll have to check it out when I’m in San Diego for FTU in 3 weekends.
