Does this have to be a paid stay? I have a rewards stay booked for January already and was wondering if I would qualify for this
I would call the Hyatt Gold Passport team and ask them if you are eligible for the free spa credit.
Please let me know what they tell you. Thank you.
Grant,
Thank you for your blog.
your posts seem very focused on Amex Offers lately and it is getting somewhat repetitive. Can’t we just get that on our own? You seem to do a lot of meet ups, but we rarely hear about the information that you get. I assume that you keep lots of it under wraps. Some other bloggers on boardingarea.com seem much more open about sharing techniques with their readers. Thoughts?
Hi Jacinto, thank you for the feedback. I apologize for the AMEX Offer posts (I am getting tired of them too). I will try better to mix in other information in my blog posts. As for meetups, a lot of the info I learn is specific to the Bay Area, so it might not be useful to the rest of the country. Plus, some of the content is shared with me privately and I told the sharer that I would not mention it on the blog. There are other blogs on Boarding Area that do share a lot of information, so it is good to follow as many bloggers as you can.
Grant is too nice. Sorry, I have to come to his defense here. Do you pay a subscription fee to read this blog? His services are free and this is his style. Each blog has its own personality and there are many. Don’t expect Grant to satisfy your every need. Thumbs down on your expectations of him, unjustified.
Thank you Kent. Everyone is free to share their feedback, so no hard feelings.
Strangest thing with coffeebean.com. Placed a $40 order for an egift card. They sent me an e-mail wanting verification. I called Coffeebean asking what this was about. They said they verify ALL credit card purchases now. Everyone has to call, she said. Huh, really? Due to high fraud was her answer. She then proceeded to run me through a gauntlet of questions. Felt like I was doing a reconsideration call. First asked about me, my address, birthdate. Then 4 “verification” questions. Gave me a list of random names. Asked who I knew on the list. Then listed a number of corporations. Asked which one I worked for. Gave me a number of addresses. Asked which one I previously lived at. Then asked me for my cross street of my existing house. 5 minutes later I was pretty pissed. Was all this really necessary for $40?. Mind you, this card has never had a problem, never stolen, etc. Amex had no problem with the transaction, no fraud alert, etc. I asked where they were pulling my info (thankfully they never asked for or received my SSN) Coffeebean rep said they use public info through “Verity” – spelling? She said it would not impact my credit in any way.
What a hassle though and pretty invasive. Anybody else have this experience with CB?
That’s pretty crazy. I’ve never had that type of questioning when verifying any order from any merchant.
