Good afternoon everyone, happy Friday. From June 1 through August 31, American Express Hilton Aspire Credit Card members can now use their $250 resort credit toward restaurant purchases. To test this out, I made a small restaurant purchase at Panera Bread (through their app) on June 1. On June 4, the statement credit posted as HILTON RESORT CREDIT. A 3 day turnaround time for statement credits is pretty standard for American Express. The one downside with the $250 Hilton Resort Credit is that there is no tracker that shows how much you have spent or redeemed toward the $250 cap.
Here are details of the Hilton Resort Credit transaction.
As I mentioned early, there is no tracker for the $250 Hilton Resort Credit like there is for the $250 Airline Fee Credit.
As you can see, the $250 Hilton Resort Credit does not have a tracker on this page nor does it mention anything about the temporary ability to redeem the resort credit toward restaurant purchases.
If you have any questions about the $250 Hilton Resort Credit on the American Express Hilton Aspire Credit Card, please leave a comment below. Have a great weekend everyone!

I read on another site that Door Dash triggers the credit, do you have any data points suggesting this claim is true?
I haven’t tried DoorDash with my AMEX Hilton Aspire CC, but I think it should work. I used my Chase Sapphire Reserve for DoorDash and it codes as a restaurant, so it should trigger the $250 Hilton resort credit on the AMEX Hilton Aspire too.
Grant,
Cool all guests get free breakfast! LoL
Can we roll the free weekend if we dont use it?
Any suggestions if we dont use it? Especially during this plandemic when not a lot of people travelling?
Thanks
I believe that all Hilton free night certificates are valid for 24 months and valid for all days of the week. No way to roll your free nights over after that period.
Does the credit work for delivery services such as Grubhub, Uber Eats, etc.?
I’m not sure, I have only done a few restaurant purchases, not food delivery services. If those services code as restaurant, it should work to trigger the credit.
My Platinum reimbursed Uber Eats a few days ago, I assume it’s the same for the Aspire.
Thanks for the data point, Bradford. I would assume yes for AMEX Hilton Aspire CC too.
As per representative chat, Grubhub/seamless, Doordash, UberEats, Postmates, Caviar, ChowNow are considered for $250 credit.
That’s great news, thank you WJ.
Thanks Grant for the info. I usually use my $250 resort credit in Las Vegas at the Waldorf Astoria as I pair it with my free weekend night. I’m not sure I’ll make it to Las Vegas this year. I love that we can use it on Dining out as that’s one of my biggest expenses as I love to dine out.
Thanks for posting how quickly it posts.
Hi Mike, I’m sure you will not have any issues using up the $250 resort credit this year. Have a great weekend :)
I just received Hilton Resort Credit yesterday for $8.75 spend at McDonald’s on Jun 2 (7X Points).
Hi Robert, thank you for sharing your data point. Have a great weekend.
….plus these credits keep on popping out :)
What if you buy gift cards at a restaurant in person like McDonalds/Panera, etc? Will that trigger?
Yes, that should work since those will code as restaurant purchases.
Grant what are your fav hotel credit cards?
I have quite a few hotel cards:
Chase Hyatt
Chase IHG Rewards Select
Chase IHG Rewards Premier
Chase Marriott Premier Business
JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton
AMEX Hilton Aspire
3 US Bank Club Carlson CCs
I like them all, but I think I get the most value out of the AMEX Hilton Aspire. What are your favorite hotel CCs?
Well, i’m planning a trip sometime soon and I want to sign up for a card that gives points for hotel stays. I have the HIlton already, not with the annual $495 fees.
I believe the AMEX Hilton Aspire has a $450 annual fee. It is definitely worth the cost. Check out this post: https://travelwithgrant.boardingarea.com/2019/04/17/keep-cancel-or-convert-american-express-hilton-aspire-credit-card-450-annual-fee/
Have a great weekend.
Thanks Grant!
Grant,
Is the free breakfast for only the card holder?
It depends on the hotel, but usually your entire hotel room gets free breakfast. At a minimum, 2 adults get free breakfast.
Do you double dip?
Earn 7X HH Bonus Points per dollar on U.S. restaurants AND get the $$$ credit for the same purchase?
Yes, I did earn 7x for the restaurant purchase.
So you basically earn $25-$30 worth of points for utilizing the entire credit on top of the free grub! Not a bad deal!
Yes, not a bad deal at all :)
Are there great benefits if you add another user to the card? Will that user have access to priority pass and have diamond status just like the primary holder?
I don’t think there are any benefits for authorized users. You need a Priority Pass Card to access Priority Pass lounges and I think those are only issued to the primary cardmember. The Hilton Diamond status is linked to the Hilton account not the credit card, so as long as you use the correct Hilton account number, you will have Hilton Diamond status.

My Aspire card anniversary date was on May 10. I didn’t get a chance to use the $250 resort credit of last year. Will I get the credit for last year from the recent restaurant purchase?
I don’t think so. I believe the $250 resort credit is tied to card member year and resets when your annual fee posts. Reach out to AMEX and see if they will help you with that missed benefit.
Thanks!
My renewal was May 12 and I checked with Amex. It does not roll over. I paid the $450 fee, am using the $250 restaurant credit, probably using the $250 airline credit through SW, and waiting till the free night certificate hits. Then will downgrade to the no-fee Hilton Honors CC. The $450 AF is pro-rated, so I will still come out quite positive (hoping to only pay two months worth of AF). My Diamond Elite status has been extended through 3-31-2022, so there is really no reason to stay with the Aspire (though you can upgrade whenever you want). Thanks Amex!
Hi Jan, thanks for sharing your datapoint and your plan for the AMEX Hilton Aspire for the next few months. Sounds like you have a good plan to maximize benefits and minimize the annual fee paid.
Grant, do you know if the dining credit for the Hilton Aspire (resort credit) will work if I buy restaurant gift cards ON through the actual restaurant’s website? Thanks
Good question. It really depends which restaurant and if they use a third party eGC processor. It would be safer to buy the gift card in person at the restaurant since that will code as a restaurant.
I was talking to rep at AMex Aspire today. Very adamant that resort credit was only for specific “restaurants”. They are talking about food delivery. Here is the list I was given:
Grubhub/Seamless, DoorDash, Uber Eats, Postmates, Caviar and ChowNow. I can verify the Doordash.
Hi Jeanette, the $250 Hilton Resort Credit should work on restaurants and food delivery apps.
