How to Use Amazon Shop with Points Redemption for Orphaned US Bank Rewards (Get 1 CPP Value)

Good afternoon everyone, I hope your week is going well.  A few weeks ago, I was approved for the US Bank Business Altitude Connect Credit Card that offered 60,000 points (worth $600 cash back) after spending $6,000 in 6 months.  I completed the minimum spending requirement and received the sign up bonus this morning.  After redeeming the majority of the sign up bonus as a statement credit, I had 1,772 orphaned (aka leftover) points.  In this post, I will show you how to use the Amazon Shop with Points feature to use up any orphaned US Bank Rewards (either points or cash back).

To get started, sign into your US Bank account, go to your credit card account, click the Rewards and Benefits tab, and then click the Redeem or View My Rewards button.  As you can see, I have 1,772 points left in my account.  To see the redemption options, click the 3 lines in the upper left corner.

I went through all the redemption options and everything offers 1 CPP (cent per point), with the exception of a few gift cards that were on sale (but those gift cards did not interest me).  When I clicked the Cash Back link, it says you need to have a minimum of 2,500 points in order to redeem for $25 cash back.  That option would not work since I only had 1,772 points.

Back on the Rewards screen, I clicked the MORE link and then clicked on Point Transfer.  If you have a US Bank Altitude Connect, US Bank Altitude Go, or another US Bank Business Altitude Connect, you can transfer points to those accounts, up to 20,000 points per calendar year.  I don’t have any of those other credit cards, so this option would not work for me.

Back on the My Rewards screen, I scrolled down and clicked the Amazon Shop with Points button.

I signed into my Amazon account and went through the process to link my US Bank Business Altitude Connect.  When that process was completed, it showed that I had 1,772 points available (worth $17.72).

I received a confirmation email that my US Bank Business Altitude Connect was linked to my Amazon account.  I then went to the Amazon Gift Card Balance Reload page and went through the process to add $17.72 to my gift card balance.

On the checkout screen, it showed my total was $17.72.  I went to the Payment Method section, selected my US Bank Business Altitude Connect and moved the slider to the right to use my US Bank Reward Points.

On the checkout screen, my order total now showed $0.00 and all 1,772 US Bank Reward Points were being used.

I completed the order and reviewed my order details.

I then received the Amazon order email and the Amazon balance reload confirmation email.

I then went back to my US Bank account, then to the Rewards and Benefits screen and saw that I had 0 points remaining.  I then went to the Account Activity screen and saw my recent 1,772 point redemption.

I went through the same exact process for my old US Bank Triple Cash Rewards Credit Card (which currently has a sign up bonus of $500 after spending $4,500 in 5 months).  I had $4.17 of orphaned cash back left in that account.  I added that card to my Amazon account, enrolled in the Shop with Points program, made a $4.17 gift card balance reload order, paid with my $4.17 in US Bank Rewards and now I have $0.00 rewards left in that account.  I then went back to my Amazon account, removed both payment methods, which automatically cancelled the Shop with Points enrollment for those 2 cards.

The entire process took about 5 minutes for each account, but I am glad both US Bank accounts have 0 rewards remaining.  If you have any questions about the process, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day everyone!
