Are you Making Any Speculative Marriott or SPG Bookings Before the March 6 Devaluation?

On March 6, 2018, both Marriott and SPG have many properties going up in cost if you’re using points to book them. When we get advance notices like this, I wonder how many people book stays speculatively, knowing they might cancel them. I took a look at the lists of properties going up and found a few that I’ve enjoyed staying at and would return to, so this made me frown. Some even by 60-70%. That’s a lot! But I don’t have any visits to these locations planned right now. You’d think after all these years using points to stay at hotels, we’d get used to these unfavorable changes. I’m still sorting through properties and deciding if there are any to book now before they go up in price. Are you making any bookings before March 6 knowing they can be canceled at a later date? And at which properties? Has this worked out for you in the past? Let me know in the comments below.

(REPOST) 30% Bonus on Purchased World of Hyatt Points (Ends Today – 2/23)

Hyatt recently got in on the bonus season! Some opportunities to buy points are targeted, and some are publicly available. I’m sure we’d all agree that the public ones are more interesting and worth a look. Through February 23, World of Hyatt is offering a 30% bonus on purchased points. You have to purchase at least 5,000 points in your transaction.

Seattle Museum Month: 50% or 100% Off Museums (Ends February 28)

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you had a great Presidents’ Day Weekend.  Last weekend, I was up in Seattle with my girlfriend and we were visiting her sister.  When we checked into our hotel, the front desk staff informed us that February was Seattle Museum Month and all participating museums were 50% or 100% off.  That was a pleasant surprise, since we planned to check out some of Seattle’s museums during our stay.  The card is only for guests staying in participating downtown hotels, so if you are staying outside the city, you might be out of luck.  This discount is even better than the local discount.  Take this card with you to every museum and show it when you purchase your museum tickets.  Since today is February 20, you only have 8 more days to take advantage of the discount, but if you are visiting Seattle for this weekend’s FTU Signature Event, this could be perfect for you (unfortunately, I won’t be at the FTU this weekend).

Review: JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa in Vietnam

Let me cut straight to the chase: to date, the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa is my favorite resort I’ve ever stayed in. Nearly everything about the resort is perfect, and the few things that aren’t, are really not a big deal (and also could be very easily fixed).

Interjet Launches Cheap Flights from San Francisco (SFO) to Cancun (CUN) & Guadalajara (GDL)

Hat Tip to my girlfriend, Laura, for sending me the link :)

Good evening again, I have another quick post to share.  According to SFGate.com, Interjet, which is a low-cost airline from Mexico, is launching cheap, non-stop flights from San Francisco (SFO) to Cancun (CUN) & Guadalajara (GDL).  According to the article, “To celebrate the launch, Interjet is offering introductory round-trip fares to Guadalajara for $249 and to Cancun for $299”.  “Flights for both destinations will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning March 14.”  With that, I wanted to check out the schedule and compare it to other airlines flying to Cancun.  I pulled up Google Flights to check out March 14, but I didn’t see any Interjet flights. Hmm…
