Good morning everyone, it is time to activate and register your Chase Freedom Credit Card for Q2 cash back categories. From April 1 through June 30, you will get 5% cash back (5 Chase Ultimate Reward Points) per dollar spent at restaurants; Bed, Bath, & Beyond; H&M, and Overstock. To enroll your Chase Freedom, click here. To see the full list of participating merchants and exclusions, click here.
I love the restaurants category. I spend 90% of my non-manufactured spending dollars at restaurants and use my Citi Forward Credit Card almost daily. During the next 3 months, I will switch out my Citi Forward and use my Chase Freedom for all my restaurant purchases. You will start seeing a lot of this over the next few months…
If you were planning on shopping at H&M, I would recommend buying discounted gift cards online. Gift Card Granny has H&M gift cards for a 25% discount…
…and Bed, Bath, & Beyond gift cards for a 10-11% discount.
There were only a handful of Overstock gift cards available, but not many. If you are planning on buying anything at Overstock, I recommend going through a cash back portal first to earn additional cash back or miles. Cash Back Monitor has the latest earning rates here.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment below. Have a great weekend everyone!
Not sure how many people bothered to get one, but the Club Carlson BUSINESS card keeps offering sign-up promos of 10% points on restaurants. There’s one going on through April, and it’s the second one I’ve gotten in the past 6 months. I don’t otherwise use the card, but I keep it for the annual sign-up bonus. I value Club Carlson points at almost a penny each, so it’s a good deal: the promos generally last 2 months each.
I have the US Bank Club Carlson Business Credit Card but haven’t received any targeted promos recently. The restaurant one sounds like a great deal.
was expecting Lowes for this quarter but it fails me. ahhh, I need home improvement.
The Discover It Credit Card is also offering 5% cash back at restaurants and movie theaters next quarter. No home improvement for you!
Any thoughts/suggestions for maxng out (1500.00) in spend, we rarely eat out?
It is really hard to maximize the restaurant category if you don’t eat out. I would just forget about using your Chase Freedom next quarter.
Grant, I have the Freedom and CSP. So for the second quarter I’m better off using my Freedom for restaurants vs. the CSP?
Yes, exactly. You will earn 5 UR points with Chase Freedom compared to 2 UR points with Chase Sapphire Preferred.
Question about Starbucks.. will it count as a restaurant? Since it counted for this quarter, I’m wondering if reloading my card would count for the restaurant bonus.
Good question, I clicked on the list of participating merchants and Starbucks is listed as a restaurant, so you will earn 5% cash back. You can buy Starbucks GCs for greater than 5% discount online too.
Hi Grant, so just to clarify, buying discounted gift cards (H&M, BBB) from the websites you mentioned above still count towards the 5%? I want to maximize my points but I’m new to the game- just got my Freedom card in February! Haha any help would be greatly appreciated :)
No, buying GCs from online gift card reseller websites will not qualify. I just wanted to point out that you can get better than 5% cash back any time of the year by buying from online gift card resellers.
Ohhh, I see… Ok, that’s what I thought- but I just wasn’t sure. Thanks for clarifying!
Good think you clarified. I didn’t want you to spend money unnecessarily.
Does bed bath and beyond sell other retailer gift cards? If so. Any ideas which ones?
I know that they do sell other retailers’ gift cards. It has been a while since the last time I went in the store though. Lots of restaurant gift cards if my memory is correct.
My local Bed Bath and Beyond sells $200 visa gift cards. Does anyone know if you can use BBB gift cards to buy the visa gift cards?
That sounds like an individual store policy, but I think the general policy is to not allow BBB GCs to be used to buy other GCs.
