Good morning everyone, happy April Fool’s Day! No jokes from me, I’m 100% serious 100% of the time. Today is also the start of Q2, so get your Q2 credit cards ready and read My Q2 Rotating Cash Back Category Credit Card Strategy. Spoiler alert: Discover It for restaurants (Citi Forward as my restaurant backup until June 3) and Chase Freedom for grocery stores.
In other news, American Express just released several new AMEX Offers, but they are mostly the 2x Membership Reward Points variety, therefore, they suck. If earning 2x Membership Reward Points are your thing, you are going to be very happy. Here are the 4 best AMEX Offers: Best Buy, Target, Gap Brands, and Neiman Marcus. Most of these 2x offers are only valid online.
Here are the remaining new AMEX Offers that I spotted. Is it me, or have these AMEX Offers gotten worse over the last few months? I wonder if American Express is slowly removing themselves from the AMEX Offers program. We shall see…
Lastly, the only thing that really stood out to me was that INTERMIX has an online 2x offer and a regular AMEX Offer running at the same time. I don’t remember the last time a merchant ran 2 AMEX Offers at the same time that were both available on the same AMEX card. If I am wrong, please correct me.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment below. Have a great April Fool’s Day and a great weekend!
P.S. If anyone in San Francisco is looking for something fun to do tonight or this weekend, the comedian/actor Godfrey is performing comedy at Cobb’s Comedy Club. I’ll be there at the 8pm showing and Goldstar tickets are pretty cheap.
Totally agree on the AMEX offer. Terrible. Guess I’ll be getting rid of my AMEX cards as the AF’s come due… So long….
You should be able to convert/downgrade to the no annual fee AMEX Blue Cash or AMEX Everyday cards instead of closing the cards.
Yeah, 2X membership points are not impressive, but right now I have 2 food offers I may use: $10 off $25+ at Carrabba’s (do you have that in CA?) as well as $10 off $40 at Bravo.
I have only seen Carrabba’s in food malls/courts, not standalone restaurants.
Oh interesting, we have a ton of them here. I know FL has them too (I was there last year and they had them) but wasn’t sure about the West Coast.
These offers seem like a lame return to their membership rewards mall. At least you can still use another shopping portal and still get the 2X.
The 2X at Best Buy can be very useful as they sell pin-enabled products.
True, but you can only get 2x on bestbuy.com orders.
Crap, somehow I missed the “dot com.” There goes that theory…
No worries, glad you found out early before you made any unnecessary in-store purchases.
