Buenos diás! My name is Tonei Glavinic, and I’m the newest contributing writer to Travel with Grant! I met Grant as a co-organizer of the San Francisco Travel Hackers when I lived in the Bay Area, and we’ve stayed in touch since I moved to Mexico City. I plan to share stories about my (mis)adventures in manufactured spending, mistake fares, traveling to Mexico and elsewhere in the world, and various travel hacks and strategies to help make your trips easier and more rewarding.
Good morning everyone, happy Memorial Day. Before I head out to the beach, I wanted to share a quick deal that I found yesterday. If you have the Target app (iOS or Android), you may have some coupons loaded to your account. There is a Memorial Day coupon where you can get a $10 Target gift card after you spend $50 or more on grocery items. To see if you received the coupon, log into your Target mobile app, click on the deals tab at the top of the screen and then click Mobile Coupons in the lower left. Hopefully you see a few coupons there.
Good morning everyone, happy April Fool’s Day! No jokes from me, I’m 100% serious 100% of the time. Today is also the start of Q2, so get your Q2 credit cards ready and read My Q2 Rotating Cash Back Category Credit Card Strategy. Spoiler alert: Discover It for restaurants (Citi Forward as my restaurant backup until June 3) and Chase Freedom for grocery stores.
In other news, American Express just released several new AMEX Offers, but they are mostly the 2x Membership Reward Points variety, therefore, they suck. If earning 2x Membership Reward Points are your thing, you are going to be very happy. Here are the 4 best AMEX Offers: Best Buy, Target, Gap Brands, and Neiman Marcus. Most of these 2x offers are only valid online.
Good evening everyone, I hope your weekend is going well. I wanted to give a quick shout out to all of you who joined me at In-N-Out Burger this afternoon for my OC miles and points meetup. I had a great time meeting and speaking with all of you. I will organize another OC meetup in a few months.
Anyway, a long, long time ago, the American Express Prepaid Card for Target (aka AMEX for Target) was one of the few/best MS techniques available at the time. Back in the day, you could load up to $1,000 with credit/debit/gift cards for a $3 fee and unload the card via cheap ATM withdrawals. You could have 2 cards in your name and load up to $5,000 combined per month. It was far from a perfect MS technique, but it was the best we had at the time.
Update 8/9/2015 @ 11am: Chime Card Redbird reloads at Target count toward the $5 Off $50 offer (ends 8/9/2015):
