Good afternoon everyone, happy Friday! I wrote a similar post in 2022 and thought I should publish a similar reminder post for 2023. One of my favorite sock drawer credit cards is the Citi Rewards+ Credit Card. This credit card has a pretty decent sign up bonus at the moment (20,000 Citi ThankYou Points after spending $1,500 in 3 months), but my favorite feature of this credit card is the 10% rebate on redeemed Citi ThankYou Points. You can receive up to 10,000 Citi ThankYou Points rebated each calendar year, you just need to redeem at least 100,000 Citi ThankYou Points in a calendar year.
So why am I reminding you about this today? The 10% rebate posts to your Citi ThankYou Points account when your statement closes. If your statement closes on or after January 1, that will count toward your 2024 calendar year 10,000 Citi ThankYou Point limit. Therefore, you probably only have 1 or 2 more statements between now and December 31, 2022. I will show you how to calculate how many rebated Citi ThankYou Points you have already received this year.
After you transfer or redeem Citi ThankYou Points, you should receive an email about your rebated points, like the email below.
To see how many rebated points you have received this year, sign into your Citi ThankYou Points account, click the drop down arrow, and click Points Summary.
Under the Points Details header, change the start date to January 2023 and the end date to the current month.
Scroll down to your Citi Rewards+ and click the ‘+’ symbol to show all your transactions. Then add up all the “10% Points Back” transactions to see how many rebated Citi ThankYou Points you have received. If you already maxed out this benefit, the numbers should add up to exactly 10,000 points. There is a small glitch / rounding error since 5,039 + 4,962 = 10,001 points. You can also see how many points you have redeemed or transferred under your Orders Placed section. If this is larger than 100,000 points, you should have received your full 10,000 rebated points.
If you haven’t maxed out this benefit yet for 2023, you can redeem your Citi ThankYou Points for statement credits, gift cards, or transfer points to Citi’s transfer partners (if you have a Citi Premier Credit Card or Citi Prestige Credit Card). If you have any questions about the 10% rebate from the Citi Rewards+ Credit Card, please leave a comment below. Have a great weekend everyone!
I haven’t linked my rewards+ to my premier yet as once I do it only shows my total TYPs and how can I then tell which cards have points associated with them? If I cancel a card my understanding is that the points are gone within 60 days but once linked I don’t know how many points have to be used on the cancelled card.
Hi Dale, once you link all your Citi ThankYou Point earning cards together, the points go into a “pool”. There is no reason to cancel a Citi TYP card since you need the Citi Premier for transfer partners and all the other Citi TYP cards have no annual fees.
