How to Activate Staples $200 Visa Gift Cards Without Activation Codes

This post falls in the “I want to activate my gift cards but I don’t want to wait for the activation code letter to arrive in the mail” category.  Let’s say you ordered 4 $200 Visa Gift Cards from Staples.com and they all show up at the same time.  Great!  But.. what do you do if the activation letter (filled with the activation codes) doesn’t arrive at the same time?  Not to worry, you can activate all the gift cards over the phone without the activation codes.

Since Staples.com gift card orders *supposedly* no longer pay out to online shopping portals, this will probably be my last Staples.com gift card order, until something changes (see Frequent Miler’s post). On the back side of the letter that was attached to your Visa Gift Card is a phone number to call (1-866-357-7391) to activate your gift cards over the phone.

What is the Future of Plink?

I’m not gunna lie, I really do like Plink.  I’ve been a member for a long time and have amassed over 21,000 Plink Points over the months.  Whether you have been a (Plinkster? Plinker? PlinkPanther?) for a long time or just recently, you probably see the potential Plink has to be great.

21000 Plink Points

But the problem with Plink is, they are only as good as the merchants they partner with and the Plink Points the merchants offer for purchases.  We have had periods of really exciting merchants (mainly Staples for a long time, followed by a shorter stint with Office Depot), but right now, there really is nothing to get too excited about.  Granted I love my fast food, going to the movies, buying shoes and flowers, but there is more to life than those things.  Trust me on this.

Plink Current Partners

So what is next for Plink?  I really have no idea.  I tweet them occasionally asking if any new merchants are on the way, but all I get is a vague reply with nothing more than a promise.

So as it stands today, we must wait… hopefully not too long, otherwise Plink will lose momentum. Continue reading

What’s on my Mind? Carlsberg Brewery, Copenhagen Airport Hilton, Staples Gift Card Promo, and Chicago Seminars

Greetings from Copenhagen everyone!  I had a great time at the Airline Interiors Expo (AIE/AIX) in Hamburg earlier this week and flew up to Copenhagen, Denmark (CPH) on a cheap $100 flight via SAS.  I’m currently staying at the Hilton Copenhagen by the airport and it is a lovely hotel, 5 minute walk from the airport and a 2 minute walk to the adjoining metro station.  Before I share some pictures of the hotel, here is what I did today (hint: drinking beer).

I don’t always look like that, but when I do, it’s because I am standing in front of a brewery.

I got to the hotel around 11am and I was glad that let me check in early.  The nice lady behind the desk said my 2 favorite words “Double Upgrade” and moved me to a big room on the executive floor with access to the executive lounge.

Quick Updates Regarding the New Chase IHG MasterCard and Visa Savings Edge Program

This is a follow up post to an earlier post (Friday Rundown: Free Lounge Access for Chase Ink Bold/Plus, New IHG MasterCard…).  In that post, I said that I had received a letter from Chase regarding my Chase IHG Visa Credit Card.  My card would soon be converted to a Chase IHG MasterCard Credit Card.

New IHG Card Letter Front

The letter stated that I would received my new MasterCard credit card by May 17, but my card would be automatically changed at/on April 1.  Apparently my calendars are a few days late or Chase is a few days early, because it looks like they have already made the change to my current IHG credit card.  I assume I will receive a new credit card in the mail any day now.   Continue reading
