Hyatt 40% Bonus on Purchased Points (Expires May 23)

Whether or not you buy hotel points when promotions are running, it’s good to know your options. We all like to travel more for less! Topping up accounts for an upcoming stay can serve us well when we can get more value from the cost of the stays then we spend on buying those points. I use up my Hyatt points way faster than I drink my flat whites, so I keep a list of hotel point promos handy to see if they’ll work for me.

Currently, Hyatt is running their buy points promotions. Depending on your travel plans this might be worth checking out.

I use Hyatt points the most and get great value from them. I accrue them from my Hyatt stays, too. I can transfer Ultimate Reward points to Hyatt but I generally prefer to use my Ultimate Reward points for award flights. When Hyatt runs a points promotion I always take a look at it and weigh the cost of the points with my travel plans and potential Hyatt hotel costs.

Hyatt usually had a tiered bonus. Purchase between 5,000 and 9,000 and receive bonus points at the 30% level. Purchases of 10,000+ in a single transaction receive a 40% additional bonus. Remember that the yearly limit on purchased points per account is 55,000. You can maximize the promotion by buying 55K (+22K Bonus) for $1320 USD.

Also remember that there can be great value in redeeming points or cash and points for lower category Hyatt properties, as well. Don’t forget when you search for Points+Cash nights to use the corporate code 51440. This code brings up cash and points rates if available.

You can find the link for the promotion here. This offer runs through May 23, 2018.

Buying points can be a good deal as long as you make math your friend and have a plan in mind. The Golden Rule about this that works best for me is to not purchase points I don’t see myself using within a years time. I would think most, if not all of us, have had some wonderful hotel stays in great properties using hotel points. I have been able to get good value from buying and redeeming hotel points. Points help me travel more for less! What’s been your best redemption of Hyatt points so far this year? Let me know in the comments below!
