Park Hyatt St. Kitts 4th Night Free & Wyndham Timeshare Vacation Packages

Good morning everyone, I have 2 hotel deals to share with you.  The first is at the new Park Hyatt St. Kitts in the Caribbean.  You can get your 4th night free along with a $300 airline credit per person.  If you combine that with the Citi Prestige Credit Card 4th Night Free, you might be able to save a ton of money if you had plans to pay for a stay at the Park Hyatt St. Kitts.

American Express Hilton Ascend Credit Card Welcome Letter & Card Art

Good morning everyone.  I received my new American Express Hilton Ascend Credit Card in the mail yesterday.  In this post, I will show you the cart art and the welcome letter.  I also tried to set up my account with American Express, but that is not possible until January 30.  The card art is definitely pretty cool looking.  I like the blues, purples, and reds on the new credit card.

My Successful Barclays JetBlue Plus Credit Card Retention Call [Targeted Spending Offer Letter Included]

Updated 5:15am PT on 1/29: I uploaded an image of the letter I received from my retention call to Barclays.  Scroll down to the bottom of the post for more info.

Good morning everyone, another day, another blog post about free money from Barclays. On Monday, I wrote a blog post regarding a $10 statement credit I received from Barclays for adding an authorized user to my Barclays Arrival Plus Credit Card. Yesterday, I called Barclays about my Barclays JetBlue Plus Credit Card. The $99 annual fee posted a few days ago, so I called Barclays to see if there were any retention offers available. I haven’t put much spend on the credit card since meeting the minimum spend but I have racked up thousands of JetBlue TrueBlue points with Amazon.

The first offer I received was for half the annual fee to be waived ($49.50). That was pretty good, but then I asked if there were any other offers available. Yes, she could also tack on a targeted spending offer to get 5,000 bonus JetBlue TrueBlue points for spending $1,000 in the next 90 days. Sold! I accepted that offer.  The $49.50 statement credit posted to my account the next day.

Visit the Amazing (93 Years Young) Guatemala City Zoo for $5

Good afternoon everyone.  Earlier today, I wrote about our stay at the Courtyard Marriott Guatemala City and a nearby restaurant I loved.  During our short stay in Guatemala City, we also walked to the 93 years young Guatemala City Zoo, which was a ~25 minute walk from our hotel.  If you are not up for an adventurous walk across and along bustling city streets, you could take a 10-15 minute taxi ride to the zoo.  Admission to the zoo is incredibly cheap and adults are 32 Guatemalan Quetzals (~$4.36) and kids under 12 years old are 15 Guatemalan Quetzals (~$2.04).  As of January 23, 2018, $1.00 = 7.33 Guatemalan Quetzals.  The zoo is closed on Mondays, but we went on Tuesday and there were no crowds.  There were probably more animals than people in the zoo when we arrived.  The zoo is pretty big and is divided into different regions.  The main entrance is through the Africa region.

Hotel Review: Courtyard Marriott Guatemala City & Amazing Guatemalan Restaurant Nearby (Casa Chapina)

After leaving the cable cars of La Paz and the salt flats of Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, our next stop was Guatemala City, the capital of Guatemala.  We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Guatemala City. The hotel is a category 2 Marriott hotel (10,000 Marriott Points / night) and is a ~15 minute drive (depending on traffic) from the Guatemala City International Airport (GUA).  There is also a complimentary airport shuttle that arrives every hour.  The hotel is in a great part of the city and has many restaurants nearby and lots to see within a short distance, including an amazing zoo that we walked to from our hotel (blog post coming later today). I will also share a very good Guatemalan restaurant that was a 2 minute walk away from the hotel.

The airport shuttle was waiting for us when we exited the airport. After a short drive, we arrived at our hotel and then we took the first elevator up to the lobby. The lobby is big, beautiful and well decorated. We checked in quickly and took the second elevator up to our room.  I wasn’t planning on writing a hotel review for this hotel, so I didn’t take that many pictures of the hotel, so some of the below photos are from the Marriott website.
