Expecting an Ebates Big Fat Check? Get up to a 15% Bonus with an eGift Card Instead!

Good evening everyone.  If you are expecting a Q3 Big Fat Check from Ebates, be on the look out for an email with the subject line “Cash Back Update: We’re Processing Your Big Fat Check” from the email address “ebatesmemberservices@mail.ebates.com.”  If you get that email, you can receive your cash back in the form of an egift card instantly and you will get up to a 15% bonus.  For example, if you earned $100 cash back in Q3, you could receive an egift card up to $115.  That’s pretty good, but what kind of egift cards are available?  That is a great question…

Use Shop & Support to Earn Money for your Favorite Charity (Up to a 60% Donation)

Good afternoon and happy Halloween!  A few weeks ago, I was at the Chicago Seminars travel conference and learned about a new website/service where you can earn money for your favorite charity.  The website is called Shop & Support and it is very easy to use.  You create a free account, select your favorite charity (or multiple charities) and then link your credit or debit card to your account.  Whenever you make an online or instore purchase using your linked credit or debit card, a portion of your purchase will be donated by the merchant to your designated charity/charities.  I cannot verify this personally, but the person I spoke with said that all the donations you generate through Shop & Support count as a charitable donation and you will get a tax deduction.

US Bank Club Carlson Credit Card Holiday Shopping Targeted Spending Bonuses

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend.  I had a great time at the wedding up in Placerville, CA (outside Sacramento and close to where the California Gold Rush started in Coloma at Sutter’s Mill).  Speaking of gold… let’s talk about Club Carlson Gold Points :) When I returned home, I received the following letter regarding my US Bank Club Carlson Visa Signature Credit Card.  I have a pathetic targeted spending offer: Earn 5,000 bonus Club Carlson points for spending $5,050 between November 1 and December 31.

PSA: Check Existing Hilton Honors Award Night Reservations for Price Drops & Rebook Online

Good morning everyone, happy Friday!  I am heading up to Sacramento for a wedding this weekend (sorry, no Sacramento travel meetup like last time), but I have a quick post to share that could save you some precious(?) Hilton Honors Points.  Back in August, my girlfriend and I booked a 2 night stay at the DoubleTree San Diego Downtown hotel for 39,000 Hilton Honors Points per night (78,000 points total).

Recently, I was looking through my existing Hilton reservations.  I decided to see what the current paid and points rate were for the same hotel on the same dates.  To my surprise, the price went down to 35,000 Hilton Honors Points per night (70,000 points total). I canceled the original reservation and 78,000 Hilton Honors Points were refunded back to my Hilton account.  I then rebooked the same hotel for the same dates using only 70,000 Hilton Honors Points. I know saving 8,000 Hilton Honors Points is not a tremendous amount of points, but that is 8,000 fewer points I need to MS for my next Hilton stay.

Bank of America 2/3/4 Rule: When Can I Apply for my Next Credit Card?

Good morning everyone.  A few weeks ago, Bank of America changed their rules in terms of approving new personal credit card applications.  Doctor of Credit has a very good post about the new “2/3/4 Rule” which he states that Bank of American will “only approve you for at most two cards per rolling 2 months, three cards per rolling 12 months, and four cards per rolling 24 months. Let’s call this the ‘2/3/4 rule’.”  Luckily, Bank of America business credit cards do not count toward the “2/3/4 Rule.”  The comments and data points from that post are pretty conclusive, so instead of fighting the new rule, let’s see how we can play with this new rule.

I am OCD and I save all my credit card statements for every credit card from every month.  I have statements for all my open and closed credit cards.  I wanted to find out the opening date for all my Bank of America credit cards, so I opened the first statement for each credit card and looked at the first date printed on my statement.  For example, I am pretty confident my opening date is right around March 23, 2017, for the credit card on the left and August 10, 2017, for the credit card on the right.
