Today is National Free Shipping Day (Friday December 16)

Good evening everyone.  Today is National Free Shipping Day (yes, it is a real thing – Wikipedia) and hundreds of merchants will be offering free shipping (usually with no minimum purchase amount) today only.  If you have any last minute holiday shopping left to do, today is a great day to get it done.  Ebates has a dedicated Free Shipping Day page with free shipping details from some of their top merchants. To the one person who has not signed up for an Ebates account, click here to create your free account (you also get a $10 bonus after you make a $25 purchase).

I do not have any holiday shopping left to do, so I won’t be buying anything on National Free Shipping Day.  How many more “shopping holidays” are left in December?  I’m really hoping there is a “National Sleep In All Day” Day coming up soon :)

Is the Barclays JetBlue Plus Credit Card a Keeper? (Card Art & Features)

Good morning everyone.  I just wanted to give a quick shout out to everyone who attended the SF Travel Hackers Meetup event last night – congratulations to the winning trivia team, congrats if you won a cool raffle prize (or two), and thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets.  We raised roughly $250 and will use that money to pay meetup.com membership fees and help secure future meetup locations.  Here’s to a great 2017 of travel hacker meetups!

Back to our regularly scheduled post…

During my recent App-O-Rama, I was instantly approved for the Barclays JetBlue Plus Credit Card.  The credit card offers 30,000 JetBlue TrueBlue Points after spending $1,000 in 3 months with a $99 annual fee (not waived).  There is also a Barclays JetBlue Credit Card (no annual fee) and a Barclays JetBlue Business Credit Card available ($99 annual fee, not waived).  I will discuss the features of the Barclays JetBlue Plus Credit Card below and why I think it is a great card to get and keep for a long time.

Reminder: SF Travel Hackers Meetup Tonight (7pm on 12/14)

Good morning everyone, I just wanted to remind everyone that the SF Travel Hackers Meetup Group has their December meetup tonight.  I believe the RSVP period has closed and no more space is available.  There will be a trivia quiz to test how much of a travel hacker you really are; raffle prizes of amenity kits, lounge passes, and airline upgrades; and hopefully some snacks/drinks provided (we will probably go out for drinks afterwards as well).

  • When: Wednesday, December 14 @ 7-9pm
  • Where: WeWork Mid-Market, 995 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94103 (Google Map)

Need to Expedite a New AMEX Card? Add Yourself as an Authorized User / Employee

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend.  Last week, I did a mini App-O-Rama for 4 new cards:

  • American Express Business Platinum Charge Card – 100,000 AMEX Membership Reward Points after spending $15,000 in 3 months (instantly approved)
  • Barclays JetBlue Plus Credit Card – 30,000 JetBlue TrueBlue Points after spending $1,000 in 3 months (instantly approved)
  • Banco Popular Avianca LifeMiles Credit Card – 60,000 Avianca LifeMiles after making your first purchase (instantly approved)
  • Bank of America Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Credit Card – 30,000 Alaska Airlines miles after spending $1,000 in 3 months (declined due to too many recent inquiries)

I was approved for the AMEX Business Platinum Card on Tuesday morning and I needed to make a large purchase by today (December 12), so I needed my new card to come right away.  I spoke with AMEX and asked them to expedite the card to me, but I was told that they couldn’t expedite new cards.  (Insert stupid rule where new business cards cannot be expedited since they need to establish an address.)

Ebates Launches Green Monday with Double Cash Back at 500+ Stores

Good evening everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend.  I was doing some online shopping and noticed that Ebates is running their Green Monday promo and offering double cash back at 500+ stores through 11:59pm PT on 12/12.  I am not sure if these are the same 500+ stores that were in the Black Friday or Cyber Monday promo, but I am sure there is a lot of overlap.  To the one person who has not signed up for an Ebates account, click here to create your free account (you also get a $10 bonus after you make a $25 purchase).
