New Southwest Airlines Flight Rebooking Process (Updated April 2018)

Good morning everyone, I hope your weekend is going well.  On Friday, I was looking at my existing Southwest Airlines reservations and found a flight that went down by $45.  My weekly routine is to check all my existing Southwest Airlines flights every Tuesday morning – that is when Southwest Airlines sends out emails regarding airfare sales.  During my most recent flight rebooking, I noticed that the rebooking process got a (much needed) face lift.  Southwest Airlines is doing some Spring cleaning, because they recently updated their (previously broken) gift card balance checker.  For reference, here is what the old rebooking process looked like.  To get started, click on the Change / Cancel tab on the homepage, then enter your confirmation number, first name, last name, and click the Search button.

United Airlines Saga: Flight Cancelled, then Rebooked, then New Flight Cancelled

Good afternoon everyone.  My friend Jim sent me the following story about his recent United Airlines cancelled, then rebooked, then cancelled flight.  He has a few questions about his experience, so if you know the answers, please leave a comment below.

The Story
Flight was delayed due to late inbound flight.
Flight was delayed again because no crew was available.
After boarding the flight, the pilot told us we had too much fuel, and it would take 30 minutes to burn the additional fuel.
It took over 90 minutes to burn the additional fuel.

PSA: Check Existing Hilton Honors Award Night Reservations for Price Drops & Rebook Online

Good morning everyone, happy Friday!  I am heading up to Sacramento for a wedding this weekend (sorry, no Sacramento travel meetup like last time), but I have a quick post to share that could save you some precious(?) Hilton Honors Points.  Back in August, my girlfriend and I booked a 2 night stay at the DoubleTree San Diego Downtown hotel for 39,000 Hilton Honors Points per night (78,000 points total).

Recently, I was looking through my existing Hilton reservations.  I decided to see what the current paid and points rate were for the same hotel on the same dates.  To my surprise, the price went down to 35,000 Hilton Honors Points per night (70,000 points total). I canceled the original reservation and 78,000 Hilton Honors Points were refunded back to my Hilton account.  I then rebooked the same hotel for the same dates using only 70,000 Hilton Honors Points. I know saving 8,000 Hilton Honors Points is not a tremendous amount of points, but that is 8,000 fewer points I need to MS for my next Hilton stay.

PSA Reminder: Check Existing Southwest Airlines Reservations; I Rebooked & Saved $66

Good morning everyone, happy Wednesday. I know I sound like a broken record over here, but always check existing Southwest Airlines flights for price drops. If you see a price drop, you can rebook for free online and instantly get a travel fund credit good for future Southwest Airlines flights (if you booked with Southwest Airlines points, you can instantly get the difference in points redeposited back to your Southwest Airlines account). Here are a few similar posts if you want to see how much money I have saved rebooking Southwest Airlines flights over the last few months:

PSA Reminder: Check Existing Southwest Airlines Reservations; I Rebooked & Saved $60

Good evening everyone. The inspiration for this post came from this Hopper alert for $130 roundtrip flights from San Francisco (SFO) to Orange Country (SNA). Before I go on, do you like The Flight Deal, Fare Deal Alert, Secret Flying, etc.? If so, you should check out ExitFares which aggregates all the airfare deal websites and sends you a daily email whenever they find deals for your specific airports.

I fly SFO-SNA several times a year and I usually book Southwest Airlines flights since they tend to be much cheaper than United Airlines. But with the below airfare deal, I wanted to double check all my existing SFO-SNA reservations and see if I could save a few bucks.
