10 Award Wallet Plus 1 Year Upgrade Codes Giveaway: What Feature is Missing?

Good morning everyone, I hope your week is going well.  I am writing this post at the Peet’s Coffee inside the SF Ferry Building before I head to the office.  Long story short, I was inspired by Frequent Miler’s post from yesterday (Should you lock in AwardWallet Plus for $10 per year?) that I decided to purchase 10 Award Wallet Plus 1 year upgrade codes and give them away to my readers.  I have been a huge fan of Award Wallet for a very long time and have been a partner with them for a few years (they even reached out to me to become a partner when I was first starting out).  If you are not an Award Wallet user, please read my introduction post: What is Award Wallet? and sign up for your free account.

To participate in the giveaway, please leave a comment below stating which feature you think Award Wallet is missing.  Essentially, what would make Award Wallet even better than it is now? My hope is that my readers will come up with some great ideas and maybe Award Wallet will implement those new features in the future.  To be eligible for the giveaway, your comment must be submitted by 11:59pm PT tonight (1/26/2017).  I will pick my favorite responses tomorrow morning (1/27/2017) and email the 1 year Award Wallet Plus upgrade codes to the 10 winners.  Good luck to everyone who participates!

I Booked SFO-JFK Virgin America First Class for 25,000 AS Miles not 62,708 VX Miles

Good evening everyone.  I’m really excited that Virgin America flights are now booking with Alaska Airlines miles.  I have had my eye on a SFO-JFK flight around Labor Day Weekend, but I was waiting for an airfare sale before booking.  I was leaning toward JetBlue or Virgin America since I have lots of miles with those airlines, but I was just waiting for the price to drop.  Here are the current prices for a one way flight in economy, business, and first.  I’m not sure why some flights fall into business class and not first class, but whatever.

Using American Airlines Gift Cards for a Last Minute Trip to Attend a Memorial Service

For most of us, most of the time, we have the luxury of thinking through our travel plans maybe months or even a year in advance. Especially if we’re using miles and points to book air and hotel reservations, booking way ahead is a good idea.

But what happens when we have an emergency trip that needs to be booked NOW?

That’s the situation I found myself in just last month. As I mentioned here, there was a death in my family and I wanted to get to Florida for the memorial service.

Here were my parameters:

  • My flight was from San Diego to Florida on specific dates, both on the outbound and inbound.
  • I had to fly into Fort Lauderdale (FLL).
  • I had to land at FLL in the evening so my cousin could pick me up after work.
  • I had to leave late in the day after the Miami Dolphins game. Don’t ask, my cousins are nuts for those Dolphins and luckily they won their game so everyone was in good spirits.

60,000 LifeMiles Posted After My First Avianca Vuela Credit Card Purchase

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend.  Last month, I was instantly approved for the Avianca Vuela Credit Card and wrote PSA: Call to Activate Avianca Vuela Credit Card & Confirm 60K LifeMiles Sign Up Bonus.  A few days ago, my Avianca Vuela Credit Card statement closed and I was excited to see the 60,000 LifeMiles from the signup bonus.  Unfortunately, my LifeMiles account number was not listed on my credit card statement and I did not input a LifeMiles account number on the credit card application when I applied for the credit card.  I called the customer service number on the back of the credit card to find out what LifeMiles account number was linked to my credit card.  After answering a few security questions, the rep gave me my LifeMiles account number.  Now, I just needed to log into my LifeMiles account to see if the 60,000 LifeMiles posted to my account.

To sign into your LifeMiles account, DO NOT go to the Avianca website.
