Good afternoon from rainy San Francisco. My girlfriend said I should write a blog post highlighting the top 10 most popular posts from 2017 and then look at the top 10 posts even written, so I decided to log into Google Analytics and see which posts were the most popular. I looked at data from January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017 and here are the top 10 posts written in 2017. I am always surprised by which posts are the most popular. Some of the posts I thought would do very well weren’t very popular and some of the posts that I wrote quickly and didn’t think much of turned out to be very popular. Funny how that worked out.
I then changed the date range in Google Analytics and looked at data from May 1, 2013 (the day TWG was born) through December 31, 2017. Unfortunately, I didn’t set up Google Analytics on the blog until sometime in mid 2014, but it doesn’t look like any posts from 2013 made the list anyway. Judging by the dates of the most popular posts ever written, 2015 was a very good year for my blog. It makes sense that some of the older posts are the most popular because they have been around the longest. More days on the internet means more eyeballs from Google. It still amazes me that a blog post written 2-3 years ago is still relevant and people still find value in the content.
