Warning: Do Not Use Zelle or Venmo to Pay People on eBay, Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist

Good afternoon everyone, I hope your Presidents’ Day Weekend is off to a great start.  I just spent the last hour or so reading about horror stories where people were scammed on Craigslist when they paid with Zelle (Tech Crunch and Reddit). Since I wrote a post on how to send money to friends (or other bank accounts) with Zelle, I felt that it was my duty to inform my readers about this scam.

After reading the Tech Crunch and Reddit posts, here is how the scam works. The buyer sees tickets on Craigslist and reaches out to the seller. The seller says they can transfer the tickets to the buyer immediately after payment is received and recommends using Zelle, since that is their preferred way to be paid. Luckily, the buyer has used Zelle in the past and *thinks* that since the service is offered by their bank and other big banks, that all transactions are protected. After the buyer pays the seller via Zelle, the seller disappears and stops responding to calls, texts, and emails. The buyer complains to their bank, but since Zelle is set up to pay friends and family members, there is no purchase protection offered through Zelle, therefore, their bank cannot help them recover their money.

Too Many JetBlue Points from Amazon Shopping? Convert them into Other Miles & Points

Good morning everyone, happy Friday. I don’t know about you, but I’m racking up a ton of JetBlue TrueBlue points from shopping on Amazon. Ever since JetBlue added Amazon to their points partner list, I’ve been earning 3x JetBlue points on all my Amazon purchases. Since the Amazon partnership launched, I’ve earned 7,000+ JetBlue TrueBlue points. That is great and all, but I’m not much of a JetBlue flyer. I’m currently sitting on 70,000+ JetBlue TrueBlue points, but I have no idea what I’m going to do with them. That’s when I remembered that JetBlue allows you to convert points into other miles and points through Points.com. Let’s see if there are any decent conversion options out there…

Interjet Launches Cheap Flights from San Francisco (SFO) to Cancun (CUN) & Guadalajara (GDL)

Hat Tip to my girlfriend, Laura, for sending me the link :)

Good evening again, I have another quick post to share.  According to SFGate.com, Interjet, which is a low-cost airline from Mexico, is launching cheap, non-stop flights from San Francisco (SFO) to Cancun (CUN) & Guadalajara (GDL).  According to the article, “To celebrate the launch, Interjet is offering introductory round-trip fares to Guadalajara for $249 and to Cancun for $299”.  “Flights for both destinations will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning March 14.”  With that, I wanted to check out the schedule and compare it to other airlines flying to Cancun.  I pulled up Google Flights to check out March 14, but I didn’t see any Interjet flights. Hmm…

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in Iceland with Amazing Floating / Tumbling Iceberg Videos

Good morning everyone, happy Valentine’s Day ♥.  As I was working on my multi-part Central / South America trip report, I was reminiscing about another trip I took.  Last September, I did a roadtrip around Iceland and stopped at the amazing Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.  It is one of those places that you could spend hours watching nature and not get bored of its beauty.  I had such a great time there and took a ton of photos and videos (see my 5 YouTube videos at the bottom of this post).  I felt bad that the photos and videos were stuck on my iPhone and thought they deserved to be shared.  See here we go, here are the photos from my trip.
