SF Travel Hackers Meetup (7/14), SFO & LAS Centurion Lounge Meetups (7/16) and Fremont Meetup (7/17)

Good morning everyone, I have a few travel meetup reminders and announcements.  The official SF Travel Hackers Meetup group is meeting on Thursday night.  Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend this event because I have tickets to the Star Trek: The Ultimate Voyage symphony that same evening.  Pizza and drinks are usually provided by Dev Bootcamp, some come early for dinner and to mingle with other travel hackers.

Update: the event is changed from Dev Bootcamp to SOMA StrEat Food Park.

  • When: Thursday, July 14 @ 7-9pm
  • Where: SOMA StrEat Food Park, 428 11th St, San Francisco, CA (Google Map)

Angel Island Ferry Day Trip from San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf / Pier 41

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend.  My brother was in San Francisco for the weekend and we went hiking around Muir Woods and Angel Island.  I wrote about taking the bus to Muir Woods a few months ago: Day Trip to Muir Woods National Monument by Bus from San Francisco.  In this post, I will talk about our day trip from San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf to Angel Island.  Right next to Fisherman’s Wharf is Pier 41, where the ferries depart.  Buy your tickets at the ticket window before standing in line to board the ferry.  The price was $8 per person, each way.  Children and seniors might be cheaper.  Here is the schedule for when the ferry departs from Pier 41 and Angel Island.  Keep these times in mind when planning your activities on Angel Island.  Don’t miss the 4:30pm departure time unless you are planning on camping on the island.

Poll Question: Meet Minimum Spend or Redeem Citi Thank You Points?

Good morning everyone, happy Fourth of July!  I have this really weird habit where I book a new trip while currently on a trip.  For example, I am currently in Orange County hanging out with my family this weekend, but I just made plans to visit Portland at the end of July with my brother.  I spent a few minutes searching on Google Flights and found the perfect flight: San Francisco (SFO) to Portland (PDX) on Alaska Airlines.  When I use the OnTheFly app (basically ITA Matrix in an app), I see that American Airlines has a codeshare flight for the SFO-PDX Alaska Airlines flight.  (I took a bunch of screenshots on my iPhone while I was in the car, so please excuse the lame images.)

P.S. I am working on a post about all the credit cards I was approved for during my last App-O-Rama.  I’m still waiting to receive my Comenity Virgin America Credit Card and US Bank Korean Air SkyPass Credit Card, but I can talk about the 4 other credit cards I received.

P.P.S. Stay safe everyone and have a great Fourth of July weekend!
