Day Trip to Muir Woods National Monument by Bus from San Francisco

Good morning everyone, happy Sunday!  Yesterday, I went on a little adventure from San Francisco to Muir Woods National Monument in the North Bay.  Since I do not have a car, I decided to take the bus.  The bus network in San Francisco is pretty good and it took about 1.5 hours from my apartment to get to the Muir Woods Visitor Center.  Depending on where you are coming from, your trip to Muir Woods might be slightly longer or slightly shorter.  Luckily for me, there is a bus stop a few blocks away that offers very direct service to Muir Woods (Google Map).  I used my Clipper Card to go on the 10 North to Sausalito (a very pretty beach town with great views of the Bay) and the cost was $10 one way.  I could have taken the 70 North as well, but the 10 North came sooner, so that is the bus I took.

Side note, if you see the bus coming, you need to flag down the bus driver since they do not stop at every stop.  Also, the bus goes over the Golden Gate Bridge, so the views can be very good on a clear, sunny day.

Once we got off the bus in Sausalito, we transferred to the Muir Woods bus 66.  The bus makes 1-2 stops along the way to pick up passengers, but the journey is about 50 minutes each way and it gets pretty windy in the forest.  You do not pay the bus driver, but you need to pay for the return trip at the Muir Woods Visitor Center.  The price is $5 round trip per person.

Happy Memories Abound in Monterey County #AlwaysThankful

Invalid request error occurred.
Good morning everyone, I hope your weekend is off to a great start.  A few days ago, I received an email from See Monterey, Monterey’s local tourism board, about promoting Monterey County’s “Grab Life By The Moments” campaign.  To me, Monterey is more than just a beautiful place to play golf, go shopping, and enjoy great food; it holds a very special place in my heart full of great memories, amazing views, and lots of fun.  I am very lucky to have visited Monterey many, many times and it’s all thanks to my grandpa.

Every year, my grandpa would rent a big house for Thanksgiving week and we would all stay under the same roof (and by we, I mean all my aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, grandparents and even my brother).  Like most family gatherings, we’ve had our fair share of arguments over the years, but we would always make up and have a great time in Monterey.  For every Thanksgiving, my mom and my aunts would prepare a Thanksgiving feast big enough to feed the entire block, so leftovers were a given for the rest of the week.  My aunt would bring up decorations and craft projects for the kids to work on while the parents prepared Thanksgiving dinner.  One year, we made this Thanksgiving turkey decoration – it brings back some very good memories over the year.

Friday Funday: “Never Have I Ever” Travel Hacker Score

Good morning everyone, happy Friday!  I don’t have anything important to share today, so if you are looking for useful information, please feel free to skip this post.  Yesterday as I was walking to work, I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts, The Abroaders Postcast, because they speak to “thousands of digital nomads, entrepreneurs, hustlers, globetrotters and world changers in the pursuit of a life without borders.”  It is basically my go-to travel hacking podcast.  I started thinking about all the cool travel hacking stuff I have done over the years, along with all the “cool” travel hacking stuff I haven’t done.  In comes the childish “Never Have I Ever” game I played in middle school and high school.  Without further ado, here is my “Never Have I Ever” travel hacker list along with a brief description of why I haven’t done the things on this list…

  1. Transferred 20,000 SPG Points to an Airline
  2. Flown Emirates or Etihad
  3. Flown International First Class
  4. Bought or Used Avianca LifeMiles
  5. Flown to Asia, Africa or Australia
  6. Been a Hyatt Diamond Elite Member
  7. Flown Spirit, Frontier or Allegiant

5 Nights Hyatt Residence Club Ka’anapali Beach Timeshare Presentation

Good morning everyone.  Hot on the heels of the Westin Vacation Package I received for the Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas on Maui, I just received a similar offer for the Hyatt Ka’anapali Beach resort on Maui.  Unfortunately, this offer is more expensive and has a timeshare presentation requirement.  If you want to see the cool landing page Hyatt created for this offer, click here.
