New Citi American Airlines Executive Card with Admirals Club Logo

Good Thursday morning everyone, here are some random news articles for you.  Recently, I wrote about the newly redesigned Citi American Airlines Executive Credit Card (link) and commented on the fast that the new design did not have an Admirals Club logo on the card.  Over the weekend, I visited the Admirals Club in SFO and the front desk agent told me that Citi forgot to include the Admirals Club logo on some of their new Executive Cards.  I called Citi and they sent me a new card via FedEx Overnight.  Here is what the back of the card looks like with the Admirals Club logo in the upper right corner.  If you have the old-new Executive Card, you can call Citi and request a new-new Executive Card.

American Express is on a roll with their AMEX Offers.  I wrote about the new offers this week (post 1 and post 2) but apparently AMEX is still rolling out new offers.  The latest offer to grab my attention is the Marriott Hotels offer, spend $200+ and receive a $50 statement credit.

This is a follow-up post to Complete List of New AMEX Offers: FedEx Office, Sony, Petco, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad Hotels, a Disturbing 2x Membership Reward Trend, and even more Offers.  I had some free time today, so I did some research regarding the latest AMEX Offers.  There is currently an AMEX Offer for Petco.com.  Spend $10 or more online and get a $5 statement credit.

I’m a dummy and forgot to go through an online shopping portal, but Cash Back Monitor has plenty to chose from (I would use Shop Discover, Alaska Airline’s Mall, or Chase Ultimate Rewards Mall).  Don’t make the same mistake I did, use a shopping portal!

AMEX Offers: FedEx Office, Sony, Petco, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad Hotels & More

Happy Monday morning on the first Monday of November!  Only 24 more days until my birthday, woo hoo!  Anyway, this post was brought to you by the letter “A”merican Express…

First off, all my American Express credit card statements close at the beginning of the month and I noticed a $75 annual fee on my American Express Hilton HHonors Surpass Credit Card.  This card is only good if you want Hilton Gold Status and stay in domestic Hilton Hotels, since you earn 12x.  I also have the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Credit Card which offers Hilton Gold Status and 10x at Hilton Hotels.  Plus it has no foreign transaction fees and earns a free weekend night after spending $10,000/year.  For even more analysis, please read MSing for Hilton HHonors Points (4 Credit Card Comparison) and Reykjavik, Iceland Hotel Options.  Long story short, the American Express Hilton HHonors Surpass Credit Card is not worth the $75 annual fee.

I was hoping to convert this AMEX card into a AMEX Everyday Credit Card, but the representative could only downgrade me to the no annual fee Hilton AMEX or convert the card to a Delta AMEX.  I declined both offers and asked if I could move the credit to an existing AMEX credit card.  He said yes, so I was able to move a big chunk to my Old AMEX Blue.  My new credit line on the Hilton Surpass was lowered to $500 and the remaining credit line was moved to the Old AMEX Blue, bringing that credit line up to $13,000.  Excellent!  The Hilton Surpass Credit Card was then closed, per my request (annual fee refund pending).

Quick Deal: 15% off Panera Gift Card with Chime Card and 3 New AMEX Offers

I dedicate this post to my friend George over at Travel Blogger Buzz (he loves Panera).  If you have a Chime Card, you can receive $3 cash back on a purchase of $20 or more at Panera.  I always buy gift cards for these deals, since it is hard to spend more than $20 at one time, which represents a 15% discount ($3 / $20).  If you want to learn more about Chime Card, please read this post.

Random News: The New American (Airlines Credit Card from Citi) has Arrived, $60 Off Travelocity Hotels, $20 Off $25 Tabbed Out Bill, and 2 New AMEX Offers

Happy Friday morning everyone, here are a few random news stories for you.  A few days ago, Adam (Fly2Travel) shared a post about the new Citi American Airlines Credit Card redesign.  I love using my Citi American Airlines Executive Credit Card for lounge access and on-board shopping (25% rebate on food and drink purchases).  I called Citi and asked if they could send me a replacement card with the new design.  The representative was not sure what I was talking about (how could this be, I called the Citi AA Exec phone number?).  He didn’t really have a good answer, but said that if Citi redesigned the card, that all newly issued or newly replaced credit cards would have the new design.  He felt confident that I would get the new card design if I asked for a replacement card.  He thanked me for my loyalty to Citi and said he would FedEx the new credit card overnight.  I received the new credit card yesterday and it has no embossed letters or numbers and the credit card information is on the back of the credit card (the credit card number, expiration date, and CVV stayed the same).  I like that they added my AA number to the back of the card (previously missing from the old executive card), but I just noticed that the Admirals Club logo is missing on the new card (present on the old executive card to distinguish between primary card holders and authorized users, hmmm).
