How to Book Aer Lingus Award Tickets with British Airways Avios (Call BA to Save $100+ on Taxes & Fees)

Good morning everyone, happy Friday!  Yesterday, I was looking for a flight from San Francisco to Dublin and found this roundtrip, nonstop Aer Lingus flight for $895.36 in economy.  Aer Lingus is the only airline that flies this SFO-DUB route nonstop.  I wanted to see if there was award space on Aer Lingus (there was), award space on United Airlines (there was), award space on Iberia (nope), and award space on British Airways (yes, but not bookable online).  In this post, I will show you how I searched for award space, booked the award ticket using British Airways Avios, and saved hundreds of dollars in taxes/fees compared to booking the same flight using Aer Lingus Avios.

Keep, Cancel or Convert? Citi AT&T Access More Credit Card ($95 Annual Fee)

Good morning everyone.  As part of my “Keep, Cancel or Convert?” series, I like to evaluate and reevaluate credit cards to make sure they still deserve a spot in my wallet (or credit card drawer).  In today’s post, I will share my thoughts regarding my Citi AT&T Access More Credit Card.  I actually have 3 different Citi AT&T Access More Credit Cards, but my decision to keep, cancel, or convert all 3 credit cards is the same.  A few weeks ago, the $95 annual fee posted to my account.  This credit card is no longer available for direct applications, but you can convert from other Citi credit cards to the Citi AT&T Access Credit Card (no annual fee) and then upgrade to the Citi AT&T Access More Credit Card ($95 annual fee).  I love these Citi AT&T Access More Credit Cards and I will show you why I keep these credit cards year after year.

How to Access Citi Flex Loan on Citi Credit Cards (Instant Cash Advance for 9.99% APR)

Good afternoon everyone, I just saw this new feature on my Citi online account.  Citi introduced a new feature called Citi Flex Loan (learn more here) where you can basically get a cash advance up to your available credit limit.  If you need a higher credit limit, you can Easily Request a Credit Limit Increase (No Hard Pull) via the Citi App.  I am not saying this is a good idea, but I wanted to share the details with you in case you were interested.  After I logged into my Citi online account, I saw this big banner above my Citi Double Cash Credit Card.  I decided to check it out by clicking the View Offer button. FYI, my total credit limit is $7,700, but my current available credit limit is $7,685.87.

Easily Request a Credit Limit Increase (No Hard Pull) via the Citi App

Good morning everyone.  I stumbled on this a few days ago when I was using the Citi app to check on my Citi credit cards.  I found out that you can request a credit limit increase instantly through the Citi app and there is no hard pull (which would affect your credit score).  All 3 of my credit reports are frozen and I was able to request credit limit increases on all 5 of my Citi credit cards (and all 5 requests were instantly approved).  Here’s how… Sign into the Citi app, select the credit card you want to request a credit limit increase, and then click the Expand button beneath the card art.

Updated 8pm PT on 3/15/19: Thank you to everyone who entered the giveaway.  I wish I could give everyone codes, but I only have so many codes available.  Here are the winners: Mike Saint, Bill Pisor, LAURAPDX, Brandon, Priscilla Ennis, Seth, Will, Stephanie Woods, iwantmoremiles, and Jim F.  I will email the winners the codes.  Thank you.

Good afternoon everyone.  A year ago, I wrote AwardWallet Feature I Wish Existed: Keep Checking for Account Balance Changes.  In that post, I wished there was a way for AwardWallet to constantly check a specific airline / hotel account to see when miles or points posted.  This is super important if you transfer points from a transferable points currency (Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, Citi Thank You Points, Capital One Points, or Marriott Bonvoy) in the hopes of booking an award flight before the award space disappears.  Some transfers are instant, while others may take several hours or several days.

I am happy to report that AwardWallet took my idea and added the feature to AwardWallet.  Here is a blog post describing Balance Watch and how the feature works:

“Balance Watch will monitor a loyalty account to let you know as soon as your points arrive. Once activated, AwardWallet will check your balance up to twenty-four times per day and send you a desktop, mobile, and email notification as soon as a change is detected.”
