Around the World in 14 Days (Business Class Mistake Fares, Airbnbs & a Cooking Class)

Buenas dias everyone!

I’m a bit late on this, but I wanted to let you know that we started a round-the-world trip earlier this week and will be sharing some updates along the way.

After spending the weekend with some friends in Austin, we took off for Madrid in business class on an American 787-9 – booked with Citi Thank You Points and upgraded with AA System Wide Upgrades. (Four other friends were on our same flight, but we left them behind in Premium Economy…and then they left us behind at the Madrid airport!)

We immediately hopped on a train to Valencia to visit a friend of my partner’s, crashing at an Airbnb for two nights, and are now on our way to spend two nights at the Holiday Inn Express Barcelona City 22@. Two other members of the group got to Barcelona yesterday, so tomorrow we’re doing the same EatWith cooking class that Whitney wrote about last week. On Friday, we’ll be taking a short flight to Algeria on Air Algerie, then hopping on a Qatar business class mistake fare to Hong Kong via Doha. When will the $650 Statement Credit Post for the Citi AT&T Access More Credit Card?

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a great weekend.  I was in Washington, D.C. over the weekend for the third annual Boarding Area Conference (BACON for short).  I learned a lot and have a lot of work to do to get my blog to the next level.  The Boarding Area team and myself will be making changes to the site, so you may notice a few minor changes to the header and sidebar over the next few weeks.  If any of the changes look bad or don’t work as well as they did before, please let me know and I will take a look at the issue.

Without further ado, let’s talk about the $650 statement credit that is the sign up bonus for the Citi AT&T Access More Credit Card.  My credit card statement just closed a few days ago and I was pleasantly surprised / anxiously waiting for the statement credit to post to my account.  If you followed my instructions on How to Purchase New Apple iPhone 7 with Citi AT&T Access More Credit Card, you should be fine.

Using Points.com to Exchange JetBlue TrueBlue Miles into Amtrak Guest Reward Points

Good morning everyone.  In today’s super long/boring post, I will show you how to use Points.com to exchange miles/points from one loyalty program into another loyalty program.  Before I go on, let me explain that Points.com is somewhat similar to Award Wallet because you can add loyalty programs to your account and track their balances.  You may be familiar with Points.com if you have ever looked into buying airline miles or hotel points, since Points.com is the broker for most loyalty programs.  I am not going to talk about buying miles/points today.  Instead, I am going to talk about exchanging miles/points from one loyalty program into another loyalty program.  First things first, you need a free Points.com account and you will need to add your loaylty programs.  Here are a few of my accounts that are currently tracked by Points.com.

Poll Question: Meet Minimum Spend or Redeem Citi Thank You Points?

Good morning everyone, happy Fourth of July!  I have this really weird habit where I book a new trip while currently on a trip.  For example, I am currently in Orange County hanging out with my family this weekend, but I just made plans to visit Portland at the end of July with my brother.  I spent a few minutes searching on Google Flights and found the perfect flight: San Francisco (SFO) to Portland (PDX) on Alaska Airlines.  When I use the OnTheFly app (basically ITA Matrix in an app), I see that American Airlines has a codeshare flight for the SFO-PDX Alaska Airlines flight.  (I took a bunch of screenshots on my iPhone while I was in the car, so please excuse the lame images.)

Receive up to a 30% Bonus for Transferring Citi Thank You Points to Qantas (June 1-30)

Good morning everyone.  I received the below email from Qantas this morning telling me to transfer my Citi Thank You Points (TYPs) to my Qantas frequent flyer account.  If you transfer Citi TYPs between now and June 30, 2016, you will get the following bonus Qantas miles (reminder, transfers must be in increments of 1,000 Citi TYPs):

  • 15% bonus for transferring 1,000 – 99,000 Citi TYPs
  • 20% bonus for transferring 100,000 – 499,000 Citi TYPs
  • 25% bonus for transferring 500,000 – 999,000 Citi TYPs
  • 30% bonus for transferring 1,000,000 Citi TYPs or more

I’m not sure there are many people sitting on 1,000,000+ Citi TYPs, but Qantas definitely wants to find them.  As for me, I have never transferred any Citi TYPs to Qantas.
